RPG Deals 5/17 – 5/23

There’s a bandwagon to jump on with lots of enemies.
There are no actual RPG deals this week. Toys R Us is giving $10 off another Wii title when a customer buys Punch Out!, but that’s about it.
This does not mean I’ve no way to save you money this week. Flipping through the interwebs has found an interesting piece of news. According to a website I’ve never heard of before, Wal-Mart has machines that accept used games. Interesting.
Naturally, researching this phenomenon has produced zilch in the way of official announcements. There is also the possibility the article is a fake. There’s a Genesis game in one of the screen shots allowed for trade but Wal-Mart is not supposed to be taking Genesis games. Yet public opinion supports the idea since GameStop is so apparently reviled. And should Wal-Mart enter the used game market, it would have a tremendous impact. Especially since GameStop stock dropped when Amazon announced their used game practice.
This does mean savings and possibly deals for those who like to trade in games. While the article mentioned which games were attempted to be traded in, the author did not mention prices. It’s still a good step for the consumer.
Personally, I hope it’s a huge step towards digital distribution. If Wal-Mart has entered the market, it might be the final push developers need to ensure their money stays theirs.
Happy Hunting
Disclaimer: Deals may not be available in all stores. Prices in each store may differ. You can try different stores to mitigate this, and always ask if a store has it before writing them off. You might be able to get a raincheck. A lot of these deals are in-store only, except where specified.
