RPG Deals 9/25 – 10/1

There’s quite a few deals involving some recent releases this week, and one of this year’s console based MMO’s goes free-to-play soon.
DC Universe Online will be free-to-play in November. PS3 users can download it from the PSN store. PC users can log into the DCUO site and download it from there. It will be interesting to see what happens with the title. I’d hit it for free.
Best Buy is selling Dead Island on the consoles for $50 per system, and on the PC for $40. Dead Island plays a lot like a slower version of Borderlands, by the way. It’s not bad, but nothing I’d buy for above $30.
Best Buy is also offering a ‘buy two games, save $20’ deal on for double-packs this week: ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, God of War Origins, Uncharted 1 & 2, and Resistance 1 & 2. While none of the above titles are RPGs, the ICO/SotC games tend to be friendly titles for RPG players. The other collections are all decent games in their own ways; I have a special place in my heart for the Uncharted series.
Buying the ICO/SotC bundle at K-mart this week will net a $15 coupon with the Shop Your Way Rewards card.
Customers can grab a $25 gift card for buying Dead Island at Toys R Us this week.
Target is doing a ‘buy one get one half off’ on select games. A lot of recent releases are the list, but I’m not sure of the full list of titles. Worth checking out if you are there.
Amazon is offering Dungeon Siege III on the 360 and PS3 for $30 apiece or $20 for the PC version this week. A similar deal is going on for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The regular versions are $40 apiece on the consoles, and the Augmented Editions are $50 each. Finally, Dead Island is $46 per console and $49 for the PC. Dungeon Siege III is pretty fun with co-op.
Xbox Live Gold Members can get Gyromancer for 600 points until Tuesday, at which point the deal of the week becomes Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale and Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes for 800 points apiece.
It’s been real quiet lately. Feels kinda good to write a wall of text.
Disclaimer: Deals may not be available in all stores. Deals may stop and any time. Prices in each store may differ. You can try different stores to mitigate this, and always ask if a store has the item before leaving the store. You might be able to get a raincheck. Many deals are in-store only, except where specified. This column brought to you by the hopes of dreams of children I’ve just eaten. Urp.
