Why Disgaea 5 isn’t Cross-Gen

Nippon Ichi Software President Souhei Niikawa was asked by Dengeki PlayStation Magazine about why Disgaea 5 was PS4-exclusive instead of cross-generation with PS3. He said, “Naturally, it crossed our minds. But if we did that, no matter how you look at it, it would be PS3 software [at its core]. The content of the game would all be PS3 stuff, which we would then appear to have just thrown onto the PS4. We want to be able to offer something that says hey, ‘we were able to make this because it’s on the PS4.’ That’s why it’s on the PS4 only.”
