Shop Watch February 2022

I was under the impression Arceus would be a ‘quiet’ release. I was wrong.

Sometimes I like being wrong. My exposure has been a lot of people enjoying the game. That’s awesome. Genuinely enjoying RPGs is fun, and quite honestly; an experience which gets more rare as you either get older or start seeing patterns due to standardization. Fun surprises are nice.

Here’s hoping the next few months have some nice surprises. Nice surprises and Final Fantasy Origins: Stranger of Paradise being more than ‘We isekai’d someone’s deadbeat father when they went out for cigarettes.’

Nevermind I’d play that immediately if the plot was getting back to the fam.

Idea Factory is porting Death End Re; Quest 2 to the Switch; a title whose very existence caused three spell checks. The title releases the 8th.

GS2 Games is bringing Edge of Eternity stateside for the PS4 on February 10th.

February 22nd is the release of Monark by a team of people who have worked on previous Shin Megami Tensei titles. Though the appearance is similar; several of the descriptions look to be different takes on combat.

Monster Crown hits PS4s this date as well. I thought this was released in November, but that may have been the Switch version.

The 25th has a dual release of Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream for PS4 and Switch, and Elden Ring for PS4/5 and Xbox something/other. At first glance one would think these have two very different consumers; but like my thoughts on Arceus – you’d be wrong.

Have fun and enjoy your games, folks.
