RPG Deals 3/7 – 3/13
By Russ | March 7, 2010 at 2:44 pm
I like being right and the funny little warm feeling I get from it – even if the predicted deals were no-brainers.
Last week I said there would be deals for Final Fantasy XIII, for those whose crap doesn’t give.
Toys R Us starts off with two decent deals. Games priced $40 and over are ‘buy 1 get 1 $20 off’ for the 360, Ps3 and Wii. That includes Mass Effect 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, and Tuesday’s release of FFXIII. Customers who buy FFXIII get a $13 gift card. If you buy the game and the regular version of the guide together on Mar. 9 and are a rewards member, the guide is $13 as well. The deals are not supposed to combine, but give it a shot anyway.
Best Buy can’t match TRU’s craziness, but the store is offering $10 off the collector’s guide with purchase of FFXIII all week. Sadly, this version of the guides starts at $35. Best Buy is also offering Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection for $18 this week, $2 off the standard price. The deal may sound silly, but the original four Phantasy Star games are on there with titles like Beyond Oasis and a bunch of Shining games. The PC version of Mass Effect 2 and Star Trek Online are $40 this week as well.
Target is offering a $10 gift card with the purchase of FFXIII as well.
GameStop is offering pre-orders of Monster Hunter 3 for the Wii $5 off and 500 Wii/DSi points. Buying a new 360 console and Mass Effect 2 will save customers $30 as well. These deals are available until close of business Thursday.
Amazon is offering current pre-orders of Monster Hunter 3 $5 off the game and $10 store credit. Amazon is also offering $10 store credit for FFXIII offers, though the offers may be revoked at any time.
While this week has a bit to report, the week favors early adopters of recent games. Though TRU’s deal knocks cash off the games, most of these deals are only good for in-store credit to be used at a later date. Hopefully we’ll see more deals that knock actual cash off the purchased title in the future. In the meantime, spend your store credit if you go for it.
Happy Hunting.
Disclaimer: Deals may not be available in all stores. Prices in each store may differ. You can try different stores to mitigate this, and always ask if a store has it before writing them off. You might be able to get a raincheck. A lot of these deals are in-store only, except where specified.
