Famitsu software sales (4/5 – 4/11)

Deathsmiles (360 Platinum Collection) was one of several titles to get re-released this week, but the sales boost wasn’t enough to put it into the top 10.

In a rare event, Mario Brothers Wii actually moved back into first place after having been long dethroned.You don’t see that too often, but I guess if it ever would happen, it’d be in a week without a whole lot of new releases.


Dead or Alive Paradise for PSP broke into the charts at 8th place last week, and is gone this week, proving that titties are only good for sales in the short term. Judging by the way it’s been getting slammed in reviews, I don’t expect this game to be talked about as much other than a joke in the future.

Last week’s champ Etrian Odyssey III stayed strong at number 8. Yakuza 4 and Fist of the North Star for PS3 continue their amazing runs, sitting at #9 and #2, respectively. The 360 version has been missing from the list since last week.

Japanese baseball title Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2010 remain strong as well, with the PSP version tapping #3 and the PS3 version ranked #4.

Pokémon Ranger: Path of Light is still hanging on; I thought for sure it’d be off by now, but it’s actually moved up.

Tomodachi Collection (DS). Wii Fit Plus, and New Super Mario Brothers Wii refuse to leave the top 10. Nintendo is flying high.

The RPG torch was carried by Atelier Judie, Pokemans, Yakuza, and Etrian Odyssey III — four RPGs, but very, very different from each other. Judie is a Gust-made RPG all about item mixing, Yakuza 4 kinda has that Shemue thing going on, Etrian Odyssey III is a first-person dungeon crawler for masochists, Pokemon Ranger is…well, Pokemon Ranger. Interesting that there’s such a variety of subgenres on there this week.
