Shop Watch May 2016

The new action-RPG dynamic?

Battleborne was released this past week, and apparently Overwatch follows at the end of the month on the 24th. Both games seem similar, what with shooting and skill trees and maybe leveling? To be honest I thought it was the same game until someone pointed it out these were two titles. This places me in an odd situation. Not only does it make me feel out of touch with what passes for an action RPG, but it also highlights the lack of f***s I have to give for this kinda genre. Overwatch is a Blizzard title, though – so link that shit to your Hearthstone game. Maybe.

Speaking of feeling out of place about what an action RPG title is, May 10 sees more moe characters on the Vita with MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune vs. Zombies. I’ve actually lost track on the HyperDimension titles and what qualifies in which dimension.

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered hits PS4s on May 17th. Oh man, something I understand. This game is awesome and easily one of my favorite games of all time. This edition comes with all of the DLC of the original game as well, along with a dual language track.

Finally, May 24th sees the release of the Dead Island Definitive Edition, which takes all the content released for the first two games and slams it into one package; likely full of the same false promises as this trailer and the skeeviness of this pre-order bonus.

As for the future, June does feature that SMT/Fire Emblem mashup with the odd name of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. Y’know. For the WiiU.
