Atlus USA announces Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard

By Phil | March 27, 2008 at 8:56 pm

Atlus USA announced this afternoon that it will be bringing Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard, the sequel to last year’s first-person, Wizardry-esque dungeon crawler, to North America on June 17.

EOII boasts new character classes, an “improved” mapping system, new abilities, and over 100 side-quests. As well, Atlus rep. Nich Maragos confirmed in a thread at NeoGAF that Atlus is fixing bugs within the skill system that made it into the game’s Japanese release.

Update: According to these two movies, scenes in EOII that depict dungeon exploring and item browsing are not suitable for children. You have been warned. Check out the game’s official site, or look below for more screenshots.

Lost and Found: Lost Odyssey review

By Phil | March 7, 2008 at 10:35 pm

Sacrificing sunlight and personal hygiene, staff uber-geek Ryan Mance sped through Hironobu “The Gooch” Sakaguchi’s Lost Odyssey last weekend in a marathon of epic proportions.

Is the game worth a purchase? Does Nobuo “The Uematsu” Uematsu’s soundtrack deliver? Will there be 80 Final Fantasy comparisons in this review? Will the caped crusaders avoid a watery grave, or will the Penguin end up with egg on his face? Did Ryan’s girlfriend spray him with spray-on deodorant when he started getting stinky, or did she just bean him in the face with a stick of Old Spice? All these questions and more are answered within.
