PSP = Not Worth Licensing Fees, PS4/Xbox One = Apparently Worth It

Welp, since PS4 and Xbox One are getting an HD version of Final Fantasy Type-0, and this will be localized, I suppose it’s time to update my article on the music rights.
Indeed. The cost of localization (which would include fees for licensing that music) would not have been made back with a PSP and/or Vita game in North America, but Square Enix feels it can make back that dough with a console outing. Not surprising.
Operation Suzaku Hopes to Push Final Fantasy Type-0 Localization

While one can never tell how much a fan effort will or won’t do, there’s no harm in trying, right? Operation Suzaku is a fan movement working under this theory, hoping to convince Square Enix to pull out the stops and finalize the English-language release of Final Fantasy Type-0. Every Friday, they’ll be reminding Square Enix of their desire to buy to the game with the modern powers of the internet. Join the fight here. You’ll either get a great game, or some day die knowing for a surety that you did everything you could.
The Final Fantasy Type-0 Localization Problem You Might Not Know About

Everyone’s wondering what’s happening with the Final Fantasy Type-0 localization right now. People are wondering if the PSP’s lack of popularity in North America is a problem, wondering if Square Enix is making a Vita version — what’s the deal? There are a lot of plenty legitimate questions and theories, but I’m going to submit one I haven’t seen yet. It’s the theme song. In the game’s beginning and ending, a J-rock song by Bump of Chicken, entitled “Zero,” plays. There could be a contract dispute between BoC’s record label and Square Enix regarding the royalties, use, or any number of things with an international version.

Final Fantasy Type-0, XIII-2 Uncharted 3, Battlefield 3 get big JP hype

Final Fantasy Type-0 for PSP is out now in Japan. While we’ll have to wait till later in the week to get official sales data, the guys behind the desk at three different game shops I stopped at all reported it flying off the shelves. I’d expect it to be number one once the data rolls in. Here are some launch scans and a picture of the big display at one local game shop.
