Final Fantasy XIII characters given names (new scans)
By Heath | October 15, 2008 at 11:46 pm
The blonde dude from Final Fantasy XIII, in the first scan, is given the manly monikor of “Snow.” The main character of Final Fantasy Versus XIII’s name (pictured in the right scan, left side of the page) is Noctis Lucious Cheram, though due to the nature of katakana-to-English translation, it might not end up exactly like that in non-Japanese versions of the game. The lady’s name on the right is Stella Nox Fulure, and again, that’s subject to change.

The best PlayStation 3 game to be made thus far (well, in this writer’s opinion) will come with a bonus for those that preorder the game. Sega has just announced that those who order before release will receive a limited edition artbook.

Valhalla Knights series takes grind to Wii
By Heath | October 2, 2008 at 11:31 pm
The dungeon-crawling, level-grinding Valhalla Knights series, with two installments now available on Sony PSP, will be seeing its third iteration on the Nintendo Wii with Valhalla Knights: Eldgar Saga. Online co-op play will be available. No announcement for a US localization has been made, but one wouldn’t be misguided to expect one from XSeed and Marvelous some time next year.

Cross of Venus screens, vague details
By Heath | September 23, 2008 at 1:31 am

Soldier’s Quest hands-on preview
By Heath | September 22, 2008 at 11:12 pm
When it comes to the RPG Maker series of engines, there’s more misses than most Reform-Mormon families. For every game like Barkley: Shut Up and Jam Gaiden or Aveyond there’s at least a dozen poorly inspired and half-finished games made by fans of the JRPG genre who really don’t understand what makes a good game (although boy, would they ever like to create a game and be recognized for it!). Soldier’s Quest: Legend of the 7 Holy Maidens falls into this later category.

Chrono Trigger DS to feature monster capturing, raising, battling
By Heath | September 22, 2008 at 2:45 am
The upcoming DS version of Chrono Trigger will apparently be slightly less of a straight port than previously expected. If the Japanese Toy-R-Us website is to be believed, players will be able to catch and raise monsters, then fight them in an arena for various prizes. Using the DS local connectivity, friends can challenge each other’s monsters. Exactly how one raises or levels up a monster is not specified. Thanks to poster “duckroll” at NeoGAF for pointing this out.
