Why Disgaea 5 isn’t Cross-Gen

Nippon Ichi Software President Souhei Niikawa was asked by Dengeki PlayStation Magazine about why Disgaea 5 was PS4-exclusive instead of cross-generation with PS3.  He said, “Naturally, it crossed our minds.  But if we did that, no matter how you look at it, it would be PS3 software [at its core].  The content of the game would all be PS3 stuff, which we would then appear to have just thrown onto the PS4. We want to be able to offer something that says hey, ‘we were able to make this because it’s on the PS4.’  That’s why it’s on the PS4 only.”

RPG Publishers Undergo Changes; “acttil” is New Face in Town

News coming from some publishing companies that RPG fans will be familiar with. First, XSeed games has become Marvelous USA. Not much has changed about the company itself. XSeed always had a tight relationship with Marvelous, and the key people still have the same jobs.

NIS America said goodbye to three key employees, meanwhile. The departed trio formed a new company called “acttil” in deliberate, grammar-killing all lowercase. The group intends to localize Japanese games, books, e-books, and whatever else they find interesting.

ClaDun x2 Now on Steam

Nippon Ichi Software and NIS America have announced that its old-timey dungeon crawler ClaDun x2, formerly exclusive to PSP, is now available on Steam for 20 bucks.

And now we finally see something come of Imageepoch’s partnership with NIS America, as Black Rock Shooter: The Game will be coming to North American and European PSPs. Rating and release date are yet to be determined.

Japanese developer Imaggeepoch, makers of treasured classics such as Luminous Arc,  Arc Rise Fantasia, and Sands of Destruction, has been busy making a lot of announcements lately.  While not necessarily connected to each other, the company has announced new games for Japan and a new localization partnership with NIS America.

Disgaea 4 Epic Interview: RPG Land + Nippon Ichi

I got a sneak peak at NIS America’s, Cladun: This is an RPG, just released this week on the Playstation Network to purchase for your PSP, and now you too can know whether you ‘d like it or not.   Just stroll on over and consume the review.  Remember, it’s polite to finish your plate when at a guest’s house.
