By Heath | February 8, 2011 at 8:15 am

Days from its own press event, NIS America has posted some interesting art of a Prinny dressed up the main character from beloved indy game Cave Story. What it means is anyone’s guess, but the party goes down on the 10th. Stay tuned.  Thanks, NeoGAF.

Square Enix Announcement Will Not Shock You (Probably)

By Heath | April 18, 2010 at 9:01 pm

If there’s one thing gamers love more than real announcements containing real information, it’s vague, passive hints at hypothetical non-announcements. And Twitter is keeping vague in vogue. Sonia Im of Square Enix America, bless her heart, apparently can’t express personal interest in a Square Enix game on her Twitter without the whole internet jumping on it. Worse still, the coming announcement isn’t going to be one that blows up the gaming world.

Signs point to 4 Warriors of Light being translated

By Heath | April 14, 2010 at 12:32 am

Per Joystiq, Square Enix has reportedly trademarked, “The 4 Heroes of Light” in North America, which is almost certainly relating to Hikari no 4 Senshi: Final Fantasy Gaiden and indicating an stateside release.  It should come as no surprise, given that it’s a Final Fantasy title, but perhaps the long wait since its October release in Japan has caused some to wonder. Janelle completed and reviewed this game: check out her remarks here.

New Gust game incoming?

By Heath | January 5, 2010 at 10:39 pm

Famitsu received an image on a postcard from Gust, developer of the Atelier and Ar Tonelico series. The illustration is of a character that is not in any currently revealed Gust title, leading Famitsu to wonder if a new Gust game is soon to be announced. Logically, with Atelier Lina released last month and Ar Tonelico III due out in a few weeks, it would seem a new Gust game shouldn’t be too far off in the horizon. Still though, this is all just a rumor at this point. Stay tuned.

Nomura stirring hype pot again

By Heath | December 27, 2009 at 9:51 am

Ol’ Tetsuya’s doing what he does best again: stirring things up with foreshadowed announcements of announcements. In the most recent Gamega magazine, amid speakings of his other projects, he’s asked what he’s most looking forward to in 2010. Nomura declines to answer directly, saying that he can’t yet say the name, but it’s a yet-unannounced game that many people are currently anticipating and that he’s received personal requests about. He foresees a huge reaction to its revelation. What his team is up to is anyone’s guess, and guessing is probably just what he intended with that hint drop. Well 2010 is practically here, so let the guessing begin. Again.

By Heath | October 20, 2009 at 9:18 am

As is common with the launch of seemingly every product in the world these days, a launch event was held in honor of the Tales of Vesperia: First Strike anime hitting Japan recently. Tales of Vesperia is almost certainly not over, the question is: in what form will it continue?
