So anyway, the show was awesome. What was great was that Oburst changed the pace at which he sang the lyrics, making it neigh onto impossible for people to sing along. Good. I hate that. We're in a small auditorium, seeing band whose attraction is the lyrics and sound of the voice, you don't sing along, byatches. It was funny hearing some of th ecrowd try to sing along for about three sentences, realize it was useless, then stop. I loved it.
Additionally, he changed up almost all the intros so you didn't knwo what was coming next. I wonder if anyone else picked up the irony when he played a few notes from the intro to "Bowl of Oranges," but quickly started singing "False Advertising." He had to have had the subtle irony in mind there.
But yeah, the band rocked. Good energy, great sound, good showmanship, etc. I'd see it again in a year or so. _________________ If you buy stuff from Play Asia, help support RPG Land. Thank you. |

They probably have to do that to psyche out all the teeny bopper bitches who memorize the songs off Dawson's Creek or whatever. Have you ever seen footage of a Dashboard Confessional live show? It's like Chris Carraba playing guitar and few thousand 13 year old girls crying or screaming at the top of their lungs...
Speaking of chittyshittybangbang emo, on Thursday I went to go see one of my favourite bands on the planet, Gatsby's American Dream. They rocked so hard, but since they don't have a video on Total Request Live they were the opening band for three really awful and generic emo bands. Some band with 'romance' in the title and I'm pretty sure one of the other ones was named after a month or a day of the week. I went with 4 other people and the combined age of the 5 of us was probably more than the combined age of everyone else in the packed club.
Anyway, the cool part about them opening was that not only did we get to hang out with the band and get our posters signed, but we got to leave early and get s***faced at The Monkey Bar where I was hitting on a really hot (and even drunker) bartendress. _________________
