Connection here is fickle and unreliable, so those movies not working for me might not be a big deal, but are they working for others?

The story feels a little darker honestly. Betrayal, Deceit, All that good stuff. The battle system is alot better and far far far more in depth then the first 4. It still action/RPG based. But it feels way different. It reminds me more of Star Ocean then the first .hack games.

Each game also feels pretty complete... There's alot to do and there is a few side quests and stuff.

I mean, I'm probably a little biased since I love the .hack franchise. But I really did hate the last 4 games. So yeah. Take all this as you will.

The first four games of the .hack series stand alongside Xenogears as the only games I played through just because of the story, ever. I don't tend to do that, but I really liked the story from the first quadrilogy (?), even though I had to trudge through fetch quests and extra-repetitious battles to see it.
