Of course, waiting can be boring or fun depending on the circumstances, but which kind of waiting feels the longest to you?

And yes, these are all of varying length, but some of them feel longer than others to people. For example, days might fly by while I'm waiting for a holiday and preoccupied with other things, but I can't stop watching the clock going "Where's my food?" in a restaurant.

You forgot the quintessential wait: Waiting to fall asleep at night.

This is absolutely true and I've added it.

I guess I'll add waiting to die, while I'm at it.

For me, it's waiting for a ride. It's a five minute wait that stretches out for about ten hours. But waiting to fall asleep comes close. I'm rarely insomniac (I fall asleep anywhere, anytime, at the drop of a hat.), but when I am, it's utterly miserable.

Similar for me. I only really wait to fall asleep when my schedule has gotten fucked up but I have to be up early the next day; so I drop in bed a few hours before my body wants to nod off. Then I get stressed out-- "What if I don't fall asleep in time to get enough sleep?" -- and it all goes downhill from there. Still, it's the worst kind, because if I'm doing it, it's always bad. It used to be waiting for my turn to go on stage, but I've been working very hard to overcome my stage fright; now it takes a few minutes on-stage before my knees begin to shake, by which point it's too damn late. Just a few more open mics and I think I'll really have the hang of it.

What about waiting to get to your floor on an elevator with a bunch of strangers? Or waiting for a reply to a post on a forum?

There's shitloads of things you can wait for. And they're all horrible.

Haven't you dorks ever heard of sleeping pills? Double dose on over the counters and you're be sawing logs within a half hour.

Point, but sometimes a sleeping pill isn't feasible, like you have to get up early.

I voted "Waiting for food when really hungry" mainly because of my state at such times. I am a surly, unreasonable man when I'm famished and my food is taking too long. At least I can eat while waiting for most of those other things.

I like that by my estimation we have more votes than active members.
