I will say, Peter Dinklage (sp?) is killing it as Tyrion. Best character in the books, best on the show so far.

Yes my favorite character by far.

I don't mind the guy playing littlefinger but I can't stand any of the actors playing the Stark sons or Snow

It's kind of a weird/minor thing but I don't think the sky cells they they threw Tyrion in in the show did justice to how they were described in the book. In the show they seemed a lot roomier than described in the book. My fear of heights actually kicked in a little bit reading about them only being 5 feet deep with an ever so slight slope leading outward. That would literally probably kill me of a heart attack within minutes of getting locked into one of those.

I have a huge fear of heights as well and I think I would dying of insanity brought on by lack of sleep for fear of rolling out of the cell.

That scene definitely didn't depict what I felt the Sky Cell would have been like. I know I'm going to be in the minority on this qualm as well, but while we're here I really thought the book did a better job with the Jaime/Ned confrontation at the end of this past episode.

The book was a grittier, messier confrontation almost of happenstance. We know he planned it, but when Jaime comes upon Ned and his men while it's raining buckets in the book, it just feels more natural than a trumpeted surrounding of Ned and his guys just standing there.

That guard just impaling Ned's leg, while cool looking, didn't help show the random chaos that scene in the book encapsulated when Ned's horse falls on his leg and blood is spilled all over from an actual fight.

I just thought the book caught the heated urgency of this particular encounter better. I know, very very picky and I'm probably alone on this. This show's a stand-alone depiction of a vastly complex storyline and liberties have to be taken, but I'm a book first guy so this will probably be a recurring theme for me: grumbling about a good depiction of a great scene. I'll keep it to a minimum. Promise.

Well, they did kind of present him as the main character in the show. Most all the promotional material I saw was cashing in on Sean Bean's likeness.

Of course they did, he's literally the only semi-marketable name attached to the entire program. They'll just get some other character actor from Lord of the Rings to play Stannis next season and nobody will give a shit about Bean anymore.

Really looking forward to Davos next year. Plus, out of the books so far, GoT is probably ranked 3rd for me. SoS and CoK are just sooo much better. I really wanna see if they show that one battle next season. They kinda skimped out on the two this season, but they could afford to. Next year they REALLY need to show it for obvious reasons.

I dunno I still got like 10 chapters left in Clash that I've been dragging my feet on but aside from all the ridiculous sorcery there hasn't been too much great about it. I guess the ridiculous sorcery is way better than the entire first book though... I should probably stop dragging my feet and just finish it.

Seems like that's what HBO wanted though. They wanted a show where they could pull the rug from under their audience in the first season. They knew how the first season would go and given all the buzz key characters dying in shows like The Sopranos and The Wire generate, it was the perfect chance for them to see what happens when they pull it off in Season 1.

The story arc of this series is going to allow them to throw shocker after shocker at the audience too. Now that Bean's dead, people know that everyone is fair game and there are no traditional heroes you can rely on surviving everything. They win or they die. Great first season.

I'm kinda sad they didn't show the dragons breastfeeding on Dany like they did in the book, otherwise that finale was perfect. The wait for season 2 is gonna be goddamned brutal.

Not as bad as the wait between seasons 3 and 4 if they split up Storm of Swords like they are planning. I know where they are going to cut off the season, and the rage will be palpable. I can't wait.

Also the new book comes out in less than a month. Gonna read that book (it will suck).

I saw a clip of a dude who was older than time itself threatened a child who was a king or something.

I was appalled at the lack of punishment for apparent treason.

Also, who is the bad guy? I'm going to root for the bad guy. Unless it's something gay like "the true evil in this epic tale is evil in men's hearts" or some shit. Then I'll just root for the biggest dragon.

Oh yeah, the Red Wedding is going to cause riots in the streets. I have a lot of friends who got to that point and just quit the book for like a week. They always come back though and so will viewers.

And DoD can't possibly live up to the hype, but it's gonna be the one with all the good characters so I'm pumped. I'll probably re-read the whole series after I finish the 5th too because Feast for Crows is pretty hazy in my mind. I remember a buncha characters I never would have thought would get viewpoints and then some I didn't care about in the first place. Not the strongest link of the series -- likely the weakest -- but Martin's such a damn good writer it somehow works.

In the book they did try to kill Selmy (the old dude) after that. He killed like 8 men with in a few minutes and escaped. That dude is awesome and a monster.

Also there really isn't a bad guy per se. Everyone is kinda chittyshittybangbang to everyone else. Its pretty awesome. I guess Cersei is a pretty big bitch, but she gets fat so that'll teach her.

So a geriatric fights 8 dudes and runs away after he gets done shouting at children and throwing his sword around? That's not awesome. That's Alzheimer's.

If there's not a bad guy per se, then just tell me who has the best karate. I'll root for whoever has the best karate.

I'd root for the direwolves in that case. Ghost is a badass.
