Embracing the material, debatably evil side of the season, entrants will describe why their holiday gift load was dissatisfactory. (Pictures of them with their lame gifts are bonus points.) The staff will decide who needs our help the most.

TWO WINNERS WILL RECEIVE PILES OF AWESOME, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
-Wild ARMs 4
-Shadow Hearts: From the New World
-Dark Age of Camelot 5th Anniversary Edition (original game plus all 7 expensions and free 30 days)
-Atelier Iris 2: The Azoth of Destiny
-Blade Dancer original soundtrack (it's not that bad, actually...)
**We are currently working on adding other stuff to the prize piles**

However, this contest carries some risk. We might make your Christmas better, or we might make it worse.
ONE LOSER WILL RECEIVE:
-Tim Wilson's broken Xbox 360
ANOTHER LOSER WILL RECIEVE:
-Spectral Souls

Send entries to contest@rpgland.com

So send those descriptions of why your holidays sucked, and if you want better chances of NOT getting stuck with Spectral Souls, send pics ASAP.

RULES AND STUFF
*Entries must be received by 11:59pm Central time on the 16th.

*Open to anyone in the world, and not just Christmas--that was just a convenient sounding name for the contest. It can also be about Boxing Day, Chaunukka, Kwanzaa, or whatever the atheists are into these days.

*Entrants must be at least 14 years of age, just because I don't feel like giving free stuff to kids.

*When you enter, fricking, INCLUDE YOUR MAILIGNG ADDRESS or we can't give you prizes. I was disappointed last year to discover that many of our readers are retarded, and when we asked for "mailing address" they only put like, "34 Jackson Drive," with no city, state, or zip. Do this and I will virus the email account you used to send this thing.

*Upon your winning, we will send a confirmation email. Since this is a lot of prize action here, we want to make sure the haul is going to a reader who actually gives a crap, so you must respond to the winning confirmation email within 10 days if you want your prizes.

*Thanks to our sponsors:

If you can go back in time and get pics, yes.

There's a chance that I can get a copy of Wild ARMS 4? I'm so dropping the whole "it's not what you get, it's the family you get to spend it with that counts" argument just for that. And maybe the other stuff.

I'd take pictures, but there really isn't much to take pictures of. My girlfriend got me a SA forum subscription and a hand knitted scarf, which kicked ass... but the package she sent didn't arrive until the 28th. I also had to deal with a burst water pipe, which to be fair could have been a lot worse but to also be fair took a fair amount of my time to fix while freezing outside in Montana's friggid winter (although this one has been a bit warmer than most.) Other than that and phone calls, and the gifts I bought myself? Oh, and not having to deal with my roommate (which was an awesome gift in and of itself?) Yeah. That was the extent of my Christmas.

I'll of course drop all the "of course, it could have been worses" to play the pity card up.

Eh... The one year I have a truly righteous Christmas is the year they throw this contest. Weak.

No, I win for sure. I found out two days ago that the cash i got (The trump card of my Christmas) is in my "College Fund," (Which is how my parents borrow my money without interest - they justify it with the argument that they'll pay for my college later). This left me with some See's Candies that I had to eat for lunch that day (And while candy is good, candy for a meal makes me literally sick), and a superman watch worth two dollars. I already have a watch - much nicer, and I don't want a watch made in China, after all. My christmas took a turn for the worst. It's like showing it to me (I had been going to get a Wacom tab with the cash) and then taking it away. I know there's an emo song about this I heard on the radio, so I'd best go find that.

Yay - after some fast talking, I manged to get the cash back, with a little extra (Quoting the fact that of the presents, my parents only got me the watch and candy - none of the money) and I am gonna go pick up the wacom. The downside is that I am out of the contest, but I'll live with it. That alone made this christmas worth not winning that prize.

WINNERS OF OUR BIGASS GRAND PRIZES:
Jacob K from California:
Quote:
I got one material, nonperishable gift this year. The five dollars of See's Candies were lunch that day. Retail value of his gift: About 2.00 USD

The shinier one is the one I already had. Notice that I was satisfied with only one watch. The superman watch was the gift. It was made in China, no less, and probably bought at Wal*Mart - which makes it an offense to me, as I am on a crusade against Wal*Mart (Even though I still patronize the stores). To top it all off, I just found out from my parents that the money (The only non-material gift) I got is "In my college fund." That means they borrowed it, but are justifying it with that they will be paying for college. That is why this is defined as the worst Christmas EVAR.

We chose this one because he was one of surprisingly few who cared to follow our counsel to take pics. Also, yeah that Christmas pretty well sucks. Enjoy the games we give you to make up for it, bro Smile

Our other winner of the big game bundle is Jeremy R from Missouri:
Quote:
All I got for Christmas was a cheap $20 digital camera (.3 megapixel!) and a
flashlight that doesn't work. I would take a picture of the flashlight for
you, but the camera doesn't have a flash and will only take pictures in
bright sunlight. Unfortunately, there is no bright sunlight in St. Louis in
the winter time.

The irony is terrible...but it earns you points. An assload of games is on its way to your house.

Winner of Spectral Souls,
Loree F from Saskatchewan:
Quote:
My Xmas sucked; which is quite notable seeing how this is the first xmas that has actually sucked for me. First of all my mom lost her job, which made money extremely tight.

This is what I got for xmas. Gradius V and Genesis collection for ps2. These were bought two days before xmas with me, because my mom forgot to get me something form my grandparents (my mom gets my presents from my grandparents for them) to give to me. I was so surprised when I opened them up! Actually what did surprise me is I knew my mom had bought about 7 other games for me long before xmas and I didn’t get those. I think they went back because of the money problems.

I also got TWO dart boards, and darts which ended up mostly broken after my cousins played with them on xmas day. I got a scarf and about $60
collectively from other family members.

I also got about 20 movies - sounds awesome right? Well these were all movies that either my mom or my uncle watched in the summer time when they were at the lake with out me. So they were all opened.

The best gift I got was some pillows and a blanket made by my grandma for my couch in my room.

I also had a big fight with my only friend right before xmas, so now her
present - a huge book full of Poe’s works - is sitting on my shelf and
making me miserable.

but hey Graius V is amazing so all’s good.

Wow that does suck. Nothing like money problems and repeatedly breaking gifts to mess with the expected joys of "Xmas." Here's Spectral Souls. Yeah, it's crappy. Try selling it on eBay or trading it in for something better? Good luck.

Winner of Tim's broken 360
Dustin B from Georgia:
Quote:
So why did my Christmas suck so hard? Well for one I got the typical crap gifts (socks and undershirts: my dresser is as full of these as Magna Carta was of androgyny). To add insult to the fire every gift I recieved was plain boring cash since all of my relatives are too lazy to bother asking what I want or choosing something themselves. Now you may ask yourself "Why is cash such a bad gift? You can buy whatever you want that way." Well cash sucked because I had to use every last cent of it on bills. Yeah that's right, I am probably the only person in the world working retail that had their hours CUT during the holidays...and guess what...they all came right back after the new year. Thanks guys! I could have used some extra cash when my car broke down last month as well as a few other minor issues that quickly added up. So yeah, my car is running again, and the stack of cash I got for xmas MAY cover the intrest I am going to pay on the various credit cards I had to max out to get everything paid for. So I sit here in January with nothing to show for the last 2 months (I even had to sell my Wii I had camped out for back in November). And guess what I get to look forward to in the coming months? I probably will owe the IRS a bundle. I must have pissed off someone for this horrible run of karma.

Your Christmas sounds sucky, but dude, I also got mostly money, and I'm damn grateful because I'm in an asston of debt right now. You should be glad too. If you're gonna owe the IRS money, how is having more of it a bad thing? You know, the IRS only accepts currency. You can't send them material goods. So if you DON'T have money and DO have stuff, it doesn't matter to the tax man.

Here's Tim's broken Xbox 360. Yeah we'd like to play the good guys here and help you out with some fun stuff, but dude, money does not suck. And you probably made your money back and then some, selling that Wii. Thanks for entering, but this doesn't sound as much like it needs our help as a lot of other entries. Hey maybe someone can fix up the 360 for you? Good luck, either way.

Thanks to everyone who entered, even if you didn't win.
I really wish we had more prizes to give out--I do. Maybe next year.
