Along with its E3 lineup, Square Enix this morning announced that the Nintendo DS remake (dubbed “Front Mission 1st” in Japan) of the original Front Mission is slated for North America.
Front Mission is a turn-based strategy RPG, where players direct mechs on the field of battle in a 21st-century setting. This remake will include a multiplayer mode, along with other changes. |

I've been curious about this one, since Front Mission 3 was kind of a cult classic here, what the first one or two were like. I heard mixed opinions about 4, but most everyone seemed to like 3. I should troll eBay for that some time. _________________ If you buy stuff from Play Asia, help support RPG Land. Thank you. |

I playued 3 and 4. They seemed really cool at first but then after only a few hours of play I just never pick it up again.
Cool soundtracks though. _________________

I only briefly played 3, but 4 was one of the lamest TRPG's I've ever played. I just really hate linear TRPG's in the first place, but FM4 was probably the most blatant offender. _________________

Surprised they're bringing this one over but not the fifth...anyway, wasn't really satisfied with the demo of 4 from a long time ago, so I don't know if I'll pick this one up. _________________ LiveJournal

Wait, is that including the ebook version? How many of each? Do you have any friends or relatives helping to inflate your sales numbers? I expected a better answer than that. Please assist. _________________

Front Mission 3 is, imo, one of the best SRPGs ever. seriously.
FM4 i thought was good, then i played 3 and realized what a piece of trash it is in comparison
im extremely excited to be getting this in the states, but really wonder why we arent getting FM5, i'd so much rather get that... hell the best case scenario would be getting both... make it happen S-E _________________

I've never heard of it...
I could probably pick up a copy of Front Mission 3 used for $10-$20. Worth the time/money? |

yes!
FM3 is simply amazing. the customization options are massive, the plot is actually good, the e-mail system is fun and very deep, and the combat is superb
the only downside is yes, it is linear
but i'd say its in my top 3 SRPGs, along with Bahamut Lagoon and Tactics Ogre _________________

Well, most sales have come from my mom, who bought copies for her relatives who are afraid to shop online, but that figure includes both the E-book and physical versions, unfortunately. And getting an article about me in my local newspaper hasn't helped... _________________ LiveJournal

Bahamut Lagoon...
Isn't that the one where you had 4 people in a party. And each party was on the screen as one person, so when you got into battle, the screen would pop up like a typical FF game?
That game was so awesome. _________________

Yeah you also had dragons that you fed items.
I loved the game but couldn't figure out too much with the dragons even using gamefaqs.
It would be cool to get a sequel or a remake with a better translation. Tactics party based combat with extra customization would be a great idea. _________________

seriously, bahamut lagoon remake would be my #1 most wanted game easily.. probably ever
i would love if squaresoft brought that over a la FM
as far as staying on topic: i read on the gamespot preview of this that they're including 2 story arcs as compared to the one that was in FM 1st. i guess they're including the second game in with it... which makes me EXTREMELY happy, because tehre's no full or good translation as far as i know. ownage games though _________________

I really enjoyed 3 (played it through once) and I have yet to give 4 a chance from all the negativity I hear about it. Will keep my eyes on it. _________________
