Real family dialogue:

Kelsey: Did you watermark those?
Me: No. Oh well.
Kelsey: Hmm... well I guess, really, the only people you need to worry about stealing them is the 'Gamer.

Yeah, but Fate Forbid your copy take upwards to a month to come in. :/ Careful who you preorder from.

No reason to preorder and get hustled out of 5 dollars if you don't need to.

What if the game you preorder gets atrocious review scores? There aren't many cases when I'll blindly buy a game without knowing if general consensus is favourable.

In most cases, They take your money way ahead of time. And then give you a fucking problem when you try and get it back. Hassling you to put it on something else.

Fuck that. I worked at Gaymestop. I know how this bullshit works. It's a fucking scam.

You preorder if the preorder bonus is worth it. I have only done so with one game, and that was Shadow Hearts: Covenant. In that case I got the original game with it, so I didn't mind paying just a little extra and going through the hassle of dealing with EB. Whoo.

Yeah, preorder incentives are the only really good reason to preorder. I actually preordered Lunar 2 for the rad Ghaleon puppet and never actually went to get the game. Smile

I think I have Growlanser preordered. But that's the only game I have. The only reason I even did that was the single print run.

Agree on the preorder incentives. If there's a bonus that comes with the preordering--best example being that Shadow Hearts one Janelle brough up, which I was an idiot and didn't have the balls to tap into--then there's understandable reasoning to it. I also preordered Wind Waker way back, because it came with the Ocarina Game Cube remake and "Master Quest," which I immediately sold separately on eBay. I spent $50, EB Games made a sale, Nintendo made a sale, two people got what they wanted at prices they were willing to pay, and I made a total of just over $70 (that's a 40% profit, kids). Everybody wins.

But when the "bonus" content is coming with regular editions of the game? 0 reson to preorder.

What also comes to mind is delays. I can't help but remember people that preordered Lunar SSSC and FFXII whining about their preorders, which were delays for like, years. Literally? I think literally. I don't feel like letting someone hold onto my $5 or $10 or $40 for that long, and/or give me crap when I try to get it back. It's just not a smart agreement to enter into.

fair enough, i guess i just havent experienced any horror stories about it yet, any time ive wanted to cancel it was simply cancelled, no questions asked, $5 bill across the table to me

i see where you're all coming from though, to me its just convenient. i have it preordered, its guaranteed, i just need to show up, pick it up, and leave
