I may or may not look into these new .hack games, but I don't know if I want to spend about $150 again on what could possibly be one game *shrugs*

about $150

25 + 30 + 40 = 95.

(GU 1 can be obtained for 25 easily, sometimes even less, GU 2 will drop to 30 when 3 is released, and 3 will cost $40)

And this is for like 110 hours of gameplay, potentially, depending on how much non-mainquest stuff you do.

But if you're willing to pay a buck an hour for main quest stuff elsewhere... the cost of //GU still maths out.

hey now, while I never finished the first four (damn roommate taking my memory card and leaving it in Iraq) I got through the first two and nearly all of the third and I found the games quite enjoyable.

I dunno, the series to me has always seemed like an interesting concept made tedious in application. It's a solid series, though, and the GU saga is certainly more educated than its predecessor (for example, party members that don't suck and a character whose class allows for a slightly more diverse weapon selection) but the more time I invest in it the more I find myself nitpicking it (for example, for most of the first game I didn't cast spells I learned in battle at all).

I hated, hated, HATED dying and not "respawning" somewhere. I mean, wtf I thought this was supposed to be a world within an MMO; know of any MMOs that make you buy a new character and start from scratch? And while checking e-mails and forums was somewhat solid, damned if it doesn't get old fast.

They're good games, though, and .GU has a number of improvements.
