I am sure the answer involves some sort of offering, probably of catgirls, and for me to have the time off to actually sit down and write up something that only somewhat sucks, and then have it properly formatted and completely raped. |

Man, sorry bout that.
I kinda felt we had to throw it up cause he went ahead and released the patch (by skipping most of the testing). It would've been just a day or three *too* outdated if we'd waited, I think. Sorry again =/ _________________ If you buy stuff from Play Asia, help support RPG Land. Thank you. |

Alex to me:
| Quote: | You have yet to apologize to Gemini for calling him a pussy.
Your article, "Persona 2 fan translator too much of pussy to finish project."
http://rpgland.com/persona-2/persona-2-fan-translator-too-much-of-pussy-to-finish-project/
Now that's quite the lack of professionalism you have here, Mr. Heath. I never heard of RPG Land until today, and that's a terrible first impression. Since you were so eager to dish it out on Gemini, the translator of Persona 2, perhaps you might partially redeem your lack of professionalism by apologizing to him? Just a thought.
|
Me to Alex:
| Quote: | Dear Alex,
Thank you for your inquery. Before I begin, I want you to know that
while I disagree with your position (which I'm sure you expected), I
do hold you in high respect for emailing me personally and for
clicking on RPGLand.com, even if it was the first and last time.
Additionally, I may as well introduce myself. My name is Heath
Hindman. I'm a family man currently living in Japan, where I plan to
be for at least another few years. I'm the editor in chief of
RPGLand.com, a station I've held for nearly six years. I enjoy both
writing and gaming, as you could probably infer, but I of course wish
I had more time for them. It's harder and harder, these days, you
know? With that out of the way, I'll address your concerns.
To begin, RPG Land is not a "professional" website. Our very small
staff consists of a Mighty-Ducks-esque band of ragtag misfits (this
comparison is going to come back to bite me, isn't it? ^^) who do not
get paid a dime. We have no advertisements, despite tempting offers.
Such is not our style. With this in place, we speak our minds freely,
say what we will, and fear not the boundaries. If this is not to your
liking, that's sad to hear, but it may mean that frequent visiting of
RPG Land may not be for you. We shall leave professionalism to sites
that make bank from ad revenue and whose postings are swayed by the
lures of PR people. It's fine for those that want it, but it's just
not for us.
And so we come to the case of this known-only-by-an-internet-avatar
character Gemini. Let me first say, that as a fan translator/patcher,
he has my respect. We did in fact cover his patch progress before
this drama mess, after all. But I found his demeanor about the goings
on in his comment board to be beyond ridiculous. Hence, I expressed
as much.
Later, he backpedaled and tried to claim it was all a joke. He even
said, and I quote, "Now go and find another way to start a new drama,
you're welcome." He completely ducked out of the fact that he indeed
started the whole mess with his highly eyebrow-raising announcement of
patch delay. Then claims of at least five different types of sever
bugs came out. Clearly, the patch had not received as much work as
he'd advertised. Do you know why? Because he had indeed stopped
working on it. Internet drama, (and I believe) including that of RPG
Land, prompted him to change his story and meet his initial deadline,
to regain the respect of the internet.
There is, of course, no way to prove my claim, and likewise, there is
no way to prove Gemini's. Internet readers must evaluate and make up
their own minds as to what happened, and if we disagree, then we
disagree and move on. Gemini and those that lick his boots are free
to disagree with me and even to disrespect me and/or the website with
which I affiliate. I accept this. Conversely, I'm sorry if this
upsets you, but my respect for Gemini as anything other than a
patcher/translator is minimal. Like I said, I do respect his
abilities and willingness to code a game that people would like to
play, but outside of that, I don't particularly have reason to care.
My case is that he played internet drama games, got burned, and didn't
like the results. No apology is necessary, as I do not regret a
thing. Given the opportunity, I'd do it again.
Now, whether you'll see this with an unbiased eye and see both sides
of the coin, I have no way of knowing. After all, Gemini gave you a
patch of a game you wanted to play, and I have given you essentially
nothing, so in the political arena, I am clearly losing. However, I
am no politician and don't intend to become one. If you should take
the content of this email and spin its contents, so be it. In the
words of Frank Sinatra, "I'll state my case, of which I'm certain." I
have done so here, and I feel it sufficient.
If RPGLand.com is not for you, after hearing this from me, then by all
means, I recommend for your sake that you do not read it. It's of
course disheartening to hear that it did not live up to your
expectations, but, if I may quote comedian and overall genius Bill
Cosby, "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is
trying to please everybody." Being who I am, I'd of coure encourage
you to delve deeper into RPGLand.com than the slight dipping you have
done, but in the end, if it's not for you, then it's not for you, and
we all just move on.
(I'm tempted to end this email with the Gemini quote "Have a nice and
flaming day," since you seem to hold him in such high respect, but I
won't go out that way.)
Thank you again for your inquery.
All the best,
Heath Hindman
RPG Land Editor in Chief

My first instinct was to reply "You have yet to apologize for wasting my time," but I figured I'd test the waters of logic on the young lad. It didn't go well.
Sparing you the details, he replied basically saying "(blah blah blah) It's not within my capacity to agree to disagree with someone! (Insert lecture on how to do my job.)"
Oh well. I told him to kindly stop reading RPG Land. Guys like this I'd rather not have reading the site.
The following is abbreviated.
Alex to me:
| Quote: | | Have you ever heard of what they say about first impressions? They say you never get a second chance at them. The very first thing I saw for the very first time on RPGLand was your article with a headline that did not give a very good first impression |
Me to Alex:
| Quote: | | I accept this. Wouldn't change a thing. |

As depressed as I am for having read Heath's entire response, I'm even more depressed for him having written it. _________________

Only because your reply would have had much less logic behind it and would have had the strong scent of "hasn't had a woman in months and is considering men" to it. I, for one, thought it was an awesome piece of Mediation meets reality, and while I'm not at all surprised it received the reaction it did it still kind of saddens me. |

The reaction is precisely what saddens me. Heath should no better than to feed trolls at this point. How long have you known me, Heath? _________________

The best part is that I don't even play Persona games and will never play this patch, yet all this happened and I'm getting accused of "throwing a fit." It's pretty funny, because no, I couldn't care less about the patch.
I simply called a spade a spade and called a pussy a pussy. |

Way to lay the ownage on that queer, and impressively, wthout profanity. The way people started licking this Gemini's bush after he threw his piss fit was sickening. People are so f---ing stupid and lack the ability to think for themselves--to see things as they are. _________________

Hah, it stirs up again...
I'll just quote my post from the other thread for emphasis.
| VsPluckyDuck wrote: | | Quote: | | Are the staff members of RPG Land douches for truly thinking they were the cause of Persona 2's fan translation release? |
I can't believe that there are truly people who truly thought that people truly think they were the cause of the patch's release.
Seriously. I don't get it.
There are no words. |

Anybody with a semblance of a life could quite easily not give a fuuuuck. I could not give 2 shiets about playing that translation even before the meltdown.
Although, personally, I'd hate to have some unwanted fan of mine demanding an apology for me and making me REALLY look like a pussy. |
