Not really. I have no beef with the City of Nucks. But the Winter Olympics ARE upon us and dammit even curling looks great in HD. That's cause for a new thread. Plus I don't know where else to post and ask Janelle if she's somehow related to Sidney Crosby.

Am I grasping at straws or does he look like he could be a sibling of yours?

He looks like one of my numerous cousins, to be sure. He's not.

Curliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. My grandparents are probably so stoked right now. They love them some curling.

I was watching last night when the States lost to Japan. It was so f---ing close, too. I started in the dining hall thinking, "Curling? What is this boring old people stuff?" But it turns out it's absolutely awesome.

Watching Finland vs. Belarus, men's hockey right now. Olympic hockey is the best kind. I dunno why, everybody just seems to bring their A-game, cept one or two doofs a year who will be memorialized for decades after.

It's been tough watching here though because we don't have, like, any sort of actual TV service, just internet, and the streams we can find are usually spotty. NHK's been doing pretty cool stuff streaming a few events a day on its website though (http://www9.nhk.or.jp/olympic-streaming/). That's how I've been watching some of the hockey.

Checked out some on the waiting room TV of the hospital on Monday too. The atmosphere of the locals was bright because the Olympics were on, but gloomy because we were in a f---ing hospital.

Naw they set up regular doctor's appointments in them here. Like, a lot of the ospitals also have guys running around in mini-clinics. It's basically the same as going to a family practce/general practice dude.

I still can't believe there's an olympics thread here. A winter olympics thread. This is completely unbelievable.

Wah wah.

I like that tonight's Czech vs. Slovokia is going to be the first game where the winner isn't 99.9% certain. Though I'll admit watching that wildly talented Canadian team house Norway was entertaining.

How about the old-school Jaromir Jagr hair making a comeback for the Olympics? I've always felt that he was the Samson of hockey. Once the hair (and Mario Lemieux) was gone, he went from being a force to being a really good hockey player.

Big-game powerhouse Miroslav Satan will motor the Slovaks to gold medal territory this year.

Slovak fiance is heartbroken. He even bought himself a Slovak jersey. How the hell did Ellias score a goal with his ASS!?

At least the Slovaks should beat Latvia on Saturday. If not, heads will roll. We have tickets to that game.

They probably deserved a better fate last night. Not saying they should have won per se, but that Elias goal was tough and the Czechs appear to be pretty good at sitting on a lead with Vokoun back there. I doubt ...Russia... is going to sit back that much.

I'm happy USA gets the Swiss and Norwegians to start the tournament. Seeing as how these guys just met each other on Monday, it's good to see them get a little time to get their chemistry together while playing crappy teams before playing a team like Canada this weekend.

Agreed. The Swiss played a tough-as-nails game, too. I like them. How about the Slovaks taking ...Russia... down in a shootout? You had to know they'd be frisky, but I wasn't expecting that. Good stuff.

OK does this board have some kind of macro that puts an ampersand before ...Russia...? Not complaining, just clarifying because I am not putting those in there. Although they do seem to add dramatic effect for the Mother Land.

Edit: See! I dig it to be honest.

Ampersand: '&'
Ellipsis: '...' (Or, for Chicago Style Manual purists, '. . .'.)
What you have described: '&Russian'. ('n' added for obvious reasons. Furthermore, I have no idea why ...Russia... would be passed-by-reference. . .)
What you actually see: '...Russia...'

This is Strategos, signing out before I shoot myself for knowing these things.

Strike-out, me. I've definitely mistaken those two terms before, too. The Russian women's curling team has one super hottie, two definite cuties and one chick I say I'd bang only if I were drunk, but would probably bang sober too. Not bad.
