| yet supposedly, from what i've read, it was Bandai that absorbed Namco, and not the other way around. That's what was surprising to me. They'll keep both names simply because it's worked so well for Square and Enix. |

It happened January 1. The website is the official fullfilling of the announcement made earlier this year that the two would merge in 2006.

Probably nothing except Bandai and Namco doing what they've always done, but timing their releases differently since they're getting paychecks from the same place now.
