Talking about Alistair Overeem & Nick Diaz
| Guy 1 wrote: | - 9 months and no fine for PED abuse

But it’s cool. I forget a lot of facts too.
|
| Guy 2 wrote: | | Well on Diaz’s first offense, he was fined, suspended, and had his fight tunred to a no-contest, while Reem’s first offense is simply a suspension. Seems to me that the facts don’t really favor your point. |
| Omegarage wrote: | Overeem wasn’t tested after a fight. That’s probably the reason he wasn’t fined because his purse from his last fight could’ve been spent. They can’t fine him on the possibility that he’s got the money. The same could be said about overturning a decision. No fight = no decision.
So the facts do actually make a difference. Different circumstances warrant different punishments. |
| Guy 2 wrote: | | That’s a good point. But it’s still absurd that Diaz got hit so hard in so many different ways for his first offense for pot, while Reem gets a slap on the wrist for freakin PEDs. Especially considering Reem’s levels were so high. That’s the reason Kizer gave for throwing the book at Diaz on his first offense; very high levels. It’s a glaring iconsitency, IMO. |
| Omegarage wrote: | | How can there be consistency when it's different circumstances? |
This is why you should avoid 95% of MMA boards. _________________ "The teen passed out during the ceremony and the town decided to drown the cow." |

So I just remember this weekend is the UFC heavyweight championship fight between Mir and Dos Santos. I think JDS is going to take the fight handily, but some small part of me (possibly the same part that was shocked when he beat Big Nog) thinks that Mir will not only win but knock JDS out. I know it sounds crazy, but remember: we are living ina time when not only the LA Kings are in the Stanley Cup finals, but also beat the Coyotes to get there and the f---ing Clippers made it into the post season.
Theres just too much crazy in the air right now to feel confident with any picks. _________________ "True to the bullet pith on the enclose, Rocksmith allows you to beat the drum for legitimate hither any electric guitar into the proprietary USB chain that comes with the encounter..." - NEERGENCE, 12/02/2011 |

It's going to be brutal. Remember Mir's last fight with Nog, when Nog was punching Mir until he fell down? Imagine a lot more of that without a guillotine attempt. Like just a lot more punching.
Way more.
Tons more. _________________ "The teen passed out during the ceremony and the town decided to drown the cow." |

Meanwhile that Strikeforce show was pretty good. I'm never opposed to seeing Josh Barnett get his ass kicked.
I also think he would be really into Warcraft and/or D&D. Those are not characters flaws, I just get that vibe. Maybe because he changed his name to "War Master" and takes level-up pills IRL. _________________ If you buy stuff from Play Asia, help support RPG Land. Thank you. |

Tito sson to enter UFC Hall of Fame. He's a loudmouth, but there's no doubt he deserves the induction. He was one of the biggest attractions of the early-to-mid life of the UFC and has usually been a monster from the top position, even within guard. His feuds with Ken Shamrock were legendary. What a couple of cocky bastards, haha. I always cheered for Ken though cause he was in the first UFC and I respected that. _________________ If you buy stuff from Play Asia, help support RPG Land. I'm certainly glad it was Tito over the rumor that Kenny Florian was going to be inducted. I would've flipped a truck if Florian somehow got into the HOF. _________________ "The teen passed out during the ceremony and the town decided to drown the cow." |

Florian is a great fighter, but I agree that he's not ready for the hall of fame. Maybe he will be inducted once he becomes their new announcer. _________________ "True to the bullet pith on the enclose, Rocksmith allows you to beat the drum for legitimate hither any electric guitar into the proprietary USB chain that comes with the encounter..." - NEERGENCE, 12/02/2011 |

I really don't think he would ever belong in the hall of fame unless he put in something like 20 years of commentating. He was an above average fighter, but wasn't able to get the job done when it came to fighting guys who were top tier. _________________ "The teen passed out during the ceremony and the town decided to drown the cow." |

Plus he's a boring announcer anyway. =/
He's not irritating or anything, but I don't particularly enjoy his, I dunno, style.
And yeah, career of falling short something something. _________________ If you buy stuff from Play Asia, help support RPG Land. Thank you. |

If you had to put 2 guys into the hall of fame today, who would they be? _________________ "The teen passed out during the ceremony and the town decided to drown the cow." |

That depends. There seems to be no real regulation as to when a person becomes eligible, as there are some dudes inducted while they're still fighting (Matt Hughes is still kinda goin', Tito probably hasn't fought his final fight, Chuck Liddell was inducted a year or so before official retirement, etc.).
So if we're allowed to pick guys that are still fighting? I guess...
BJ Penn and Anderson Silva.
Georges St. Pierre crossed my mind too, though. _________________ If you buy stuff from Play Asia, help support RPG Land. Thank you. |

Sudo all the way. Who else in the sport can rightfully claim they are a kickboxer, grappler, essayist, actor, pacifist, professional dancer, and pop music superstar? Genki Sudo doesn't deserve to be in the UFC Hall of Fame. He deserves to be in the Bad Ass Life Hall of Fame. _________________ "True to the bullet pith on the enclose, Rocksmith allows you to beat the drum for legitimate hither any electric guitar into the proprietary USB chain that comes with the encounter..." - NEERGENCE, 12/02/2011 |

Hey guys, Fedor knocked out Pedro Rizzo, one of the top heavyweights in the world (as of 1999)! Does this mean he's legit again (supposing we are in 1999)!? _________________ If you buy stuff from Play Asia, help support RPG Land. Thank you. |

Sonnen vs Silva II this weekend!
I don't know. Somehow this doesn't seem to have the same "big fight" hype or atmosphere that their last fight did. I told Solice that I've got Silva winning by DQ because Sonnen will just completely snap and stab him with a hypodermic needle in the first 13 seconds of the fight.
Tito Ortiz vs Forrest Griffin III to find out which former champion's later career is more depressing. I'm taking Forrest in this simply because he has a longer reach than Tito. Expect this to be worse than their first two fights.
Cung Le vs Patrick Cote. Le is trying to pick up his first UFC win since Wanderlei Silva gave us all nostalgia-boners with his brutal TKO over Le. Cote has picked up a few wins outside the UFC and is filling in as a replacement for Rich Franklin. Really this fight is a coin flip. Big power (Cote) vs Precision striking (Le). Just for shits and giggles, I'll say Cote by RNC.
The rest of the card is actually really good too. UFC has been their own worst enemy with over-exposure since the beginning of the year. Having a show almost every week is starting to be overkill for fights. If you have been out of the loop for a while, check out this weekend's ppv to get back in. _________________ "The teen passed out during the ceremony and the town decided to drown the cow." |
