Just picked up the game on my break. Can't wait to neglect my family tonight and cram a good 4-5 hours in before bed. _________________ "The teen passed out during the ceremony and the town decided to drown the cow." |

I got about 30 minutes in before work (enough to get through the opening credits to the first save) and tonight in my exhausted ill fever addled way I played for about 3 hours. Good stuff so far but I want to find a lasso damn it. Where can one procure such an item!? You'd think the general store but the Jews probably make the robe here so he refuses to sell it. _________________

You probably know this by now, but the lasso is obtained via mission. Keep doing missions for the farmer chick.
I'm having a ton of fun with this game. It has a lot of GTA4 jank but mundane shit in it is SO much fun. Herding cows, breaking horses, and most importantly hunting wildlife just feels so great. The hunting makes it feel like the 3D version of Oregon Trail I've always wanted. I just wish I knew where to go to find bigger game. The missions haven't progressed passed the herding cattle, or go there, kill them, variety yet. But I got drunk and went to play some MW2 a few hours into my play, so I expect that to change in the next few hours. _________________

Oh I played some Free Roam with Jones and one of his dudes last night. We had some fun shooting each other and each other's horses, and were half way through clearing some thug den but I was having MASSIVE power issues due to blown fuses, so I had to bail. I'm definitely looking forward to playing that more. Being level one, riding around on a shittyass little donkey sucks. _________________

My mom called me today:
Her: "Did you leave your 360 at home when you left for school?"
Me: "Yes, but new game came out recently that makes me regret that decision."
Her: "It's that Red Dead something game, right?"
Me: "Uh, yeah. How do you know about that, and why do you ask?"
Her: "You know how your dad is about westerns. And the reviews for it are all really positive sounding. Should I get it for him?"
Me: 'Uh, I mean, if you think he can play video games, yeah. It's guaranteed to be good."
In short, my dad is going to play Red Dead Redemption before I do, which makes me sad. I'm spending my summer on campus doing research. : ( That said, one of my friends with a PS3 is also going to be up here doing research; I figure he'll buy it, and then I'll just live in his apartment playing it. _________________ H-E-S-T-E-R is a long, convoluted joke. |

I'm really enjoying the game. Luckily, every time it seems that things are getting slow, something new comes up that you want to try. It's great.
On a related note; I'm pretty sure Solice hasn't turned is ps3 off in about 31 hours. _________________ "The teen passed out during the ceremony and the town decided to drown the cow." |

If you're talking about the fist map it is by hangmans rock. Its showing you two different angles of the same spot.
Its north of Armidillo by the way. _________________ "True to the bullet pith on the enclose, Rocksmith allows you to beat the drum for legitimate hither any electric guitar into the proprietary USB chain that comes with the encounter..." - NEERGENCE, 12/02/2011 |

I picked it up for PS3. Solice got it for PS3. LiQuid picked it up for 360. Jones got it for 360 (pretty sure). Don't know about anyone else. _________________ "The teen passed out during the ceremony and the town decided to drown the cow." |

meh, 3rd person shooters haven't been my favorite on PCs but I wouldn't put it past myself to also playing it on PC. _________________

Played Freedom Fighters on PC. It was awesome.
I actually would really prefer a mouse in this game. In tight quarters (indoors) aiming around corners can be kind of a bitch. _________________

This I agree with.
Honestly the only time I want a mouse and keyboard is for long range shots, I find indoors and up close to be quite easy. _________________

It might just be an issue of sensitivity. I haven't tried dicking around with the sensitivity sliders in RDR yet (it has them right?) that might be why it feels awkward. The combination of the slow default run speed and the sluggish manual aiming means turning corners indoors is kinda janky. I had the same issue (to a greater extent, actually) in GTA4. The indoor combat in that game was one of the reasons I wasn't able to finish The Lost and the Damned.
The worse though, is when you're trying to shoot from inside a building to dudes outside a building. You have such a tiny angle of view out of the doorway/window so it limits your options to just running out of that mother effer, which is a great way to get five guys shooting at you at the same time.
The great thing about RDR is the realistic damage model. If you've got the normal aim mode on, a single shot to the chest from most guns with take a dude out. You might have to plug him a second time, but for the most part the gunfights are as fast as you can click LT then RT. Sure it probably makes the game a little too easy, but stuff like riding shotgun in a carriage while groups of dudes on horses are swarming you would be WAY f---ing harder on expert mode. I guess at least that would force me to use Dead Eye more often... I guess it might be worth a shot. With the assassin outfit, I'm never out of DE gauge. _________________

I saw videos of people playing this game getting shot like 10 times and not dying. Bringing back horrible memories of watching solice play Hitman and Syphon lover.
Max Payne called and said he wants his "dead eye" game mechanic back.
(gonna start hating on this game because I am bored) _________________

I meant mostly the damage model Vs. enemies. They die in 1-2 hits tops. You can absorb about 5 hits without dying. You're still hardly a bullet sponge, but if you stand outside of cover with more than 2 dudes shooting at you you will die very quickly. _________________
