You gotta be kidding me It's one thing to get married to someone with that kind of student loan debt who's a doctor but $170,000 for a worthless degree? Smart guy if you ask me...
Quote:
But as the couple got closer to their wedding day, she took out all the paperwork and it became clear that her total debt was actually about $170,000. “He accused me of lying,” said Ms. Eastman, 31, a San Francisco X-ray technician and part-time photographer who had run up much of the balance studying for a bachelor’s degree in photography. “But if I was lying, I was lying to myself, not to him. I didn’t really want to know the full amount.”

How the hell is it even possible to run up $170k-$250k on student loans? Its like they never paid a dime of school wen for 7 years to a private institution or something. I have no sympathy for these people.

I managed to get through my undergraduate without a cent of student loans and I've already started on my Masters and I'm still debt free. Its called working your ass off and living within your means or less so you can save.

Default on them. You'd be surprised how quickly a $50k loan turns into one three times as much. And nothing, not even bankruptcy, can escape that obligation.

College is a joke anyways. If it was really about education and not money then every vocation could be learned in about 2 years. A culinary arts major has to take an English lit class? Yeah, I could see how that would help them understand cooking techniques. You're telling me it takes 4 years of full time study to understand the nuances of photography?

But if it wasn't about money I wouldn't have a decent dorm with cold a/c, and free high-speed internet and cable right now. I don't see anything unimportant in my classes though. I've been needing some improvement in writing and formal humanities studies even if I am majoring in mechatronics.

No shit! Your school actually offers that major? My roommate is here for "Mechatronics," but by that he means he duals MechE and EE and hates life. Where are you?

Texas State Technical College in Marshall Texas. The actual title for my program is Industrial Mechatronics Technician. It's no doubt the low rent version of what your roommate is studying but it will be covering hydraulics, dc/ac circuits, programmable logic controllers and robotics fundamentals.

It sounds like pretty much exactly what he's doing, except with less of the fluff which comes from the unrelated ME and EE stuff. Not a bad gig at all.

I don't understand why an x-ray technician need to get involved and lie about the story.

It was a page of links to medical career descriptions and how to find a good school. It seemed completely benign actually.

Did you make that diagnosis with the medical knowledge you gained from his rad links?

Nobody's going to make a "Dr. Jackal" comment? C'mon, it's so easy.
