|
|
Finally got the battery I ordered from China in July! So I got my PSP hacked (finally! After like four f---ing years of owning this piece of shit!) and started playing PSX games on it! First up was obviously Legend of Mana, which I'd played through about three times in the past, but most recently was like 5 years ago, so I was jonesing.
Played through it for about 7 hours and then realized I was doing what I basically always do which was running around with a spear, slow tapping light attack to keep enemies hit stunned. I decided after all these play throughs I wanted to try something new so I started over with a chick and a staff and I've been using that exclusively so see if I can't level up her magic stats and use lots of magic, instead of all weapon skills. I can't find one that directly correlates with magic attack power though, so I'm hoping the fact that magic has always sucked for me isn't just because magic sucks. I like the idea behind magic but it never seems to do all that much damage.
Another thing I'm gonna focus on is using the orchard/corral/crafting systems more. Obviously to try and construct instruments for magic casting, but I've never really played around with pet raising, golem making and smithing much in the past, mostly just because it's not necessary. Gonna try and get a handle on that stuff now and then see if I can put it to good use during a new game+ with the difficulty raised.
Lastly I'm making a concerted effort to talk to Li'l Cactus after every mission. I think that leads to another mission once you get them all, but mostly I just want to see what percentage of the total quests I complete before I beat the game. I'm sure I have yet to see all this game has to offer.
So, anyways, oh yeah PSP. Anybody got any tips for other cool stuff I can do with CFW on it? I'm looking into other console emulation, but truth be told, I've been emulating 8 and 16-bit consoles on PC so long, that stuff doesn't have a ton of value to me aside from for portability sake, and there's only about a dozen games that I'm really interested in having with me on the go (Secret of Mana, Shadowrun (gen), et al).
Also, oddly enough I'm not all that interested in pirating actual PSP games. There are MAYBE 5-10 PSP games in its entire library that I'm even half way interested in playing. When I bought this thing all those years ago it was solely to use as a pocket emulator, and now that that's being achieved, I don't want to waste any of my 8 precious gigabytes on garbage ass PSP games.
Well there you go, Solice, I hope that was a little better than the Lufia thread. _________________

I didn't have access to a battery. The one I just bought was actually my second one. I was having problems getting it hacked the first time. I think there was something wrong with the program I was trying to use. _________________

I'm confused. Does the battery have something to do with being able to crack the PSP? Thats weird. _________________ "True to the bullet pith on the enclose, Rocksmith allows you to beat the drum for legitimate hither any electric guitar into the proprietary USB chain that comes with the encounter..." - NEERGENCE, 12/02/2011 |

Yeah, you can convert a normal PSP battery into a "pandora battery" which acts as a reboot to the system's entire firmware or some such nonsense. Then it can be loaded with custom firmware that lets you use it for actual useful things, instead of just for playing bs PSP games and giving Sony money. Back in the day you had to make them yourself using an OG PSP Phat, but now you can buy em online from China for like $5.
I just found the unopened 4GB Pro Duo I bought when I got my PSP, so now I have a 1, 4 and 8 GB stick. Thinking of assigning each one a function and carrying them all around with me if I can find a way to not lose them. _________________

Yeah too bad the battery of the slims are so short you can probably play 1 movie and 8 hours of music you will need to lug your charger around maybe you can buy a bag for it and put all your mem sticks inside
I remember my first PSP Phat I could play monster hunter all day without charging but my hands would go numb from time to time |

Well since the pandora I have is a two in one I have two batteries now. Each one seems to last about 5-6 hours playing games off the memory stick. That's more than I'll ever need in a day. _________________

So in other PSP news I've totally started stealing games, which is way easy and super fun! Except all the games are still PSP games, so they usually end up sucking and deleted anyways. I tried that Metal Gear Peace Walker game and it SUUUUUCKED! The hour or so I played was like 20 minutes of godawful tutorial, 20 minutes of cutscenes and 20 minutes of some of the jankiest, shit controls I've ever experienced in a video game. _________________

There's no possible way they could have even close to similar control schemes. I'm sure you don't control the camera with the face buttons in MGS4. Peace Walker is a piece of garbage, but mostly just because it has the misfortune of being a PSP game.
My new vote for best PSP game (read: the only PSP game I've ever enjoyed) is Cladun. If you have a PSP I demand you play it. _________________

I got GB/GBC, SNES and Genesis emulators and those are basically all I ever play on it. I don't like SHMUPS and MAME seems like it would be ridiculous to run on that thing so I won't bother. Thinking about getting an NES emulator, but honestly I've played the shit out of most NES games I would ever play and those games are so developmentally retarded they haven't aged well. I can hardly even handle most of the Game Boy's games. _________________
