I didn't think it was possible, but here we are.

5.5 Dangerous Things You Should Let Your Kid Do

Warning labels for "safe" toys.

The man's not the most charismatic speaker, but he's got the right idea. Kids heal. The end. We can raise a generation of kids who aren't incompetent crybabies, that can do capable things like fix cars or cut things while not cutting themselves.

It's technically six, but he links the last two and calls it 5.5. The video on YouTube, however, is called 5.

Saw this on Fark like a billion years ago. The guy is a true genius and if I ever made a baby, I'm just gonna give him to this guy and then take him back on his 18th birthday. Unless I have a girl, then she's getting aborted before she can grow up to be a stripper or a prostitute.

I did every single thing he mentioned when I was a kid. Rock.

Except the part about the DMCA, because it wasn't around back then. But I would make my own mix cassettes to use in my Walkman, which would be pretty much the same thing these days.

And yeah, TED talks are awesome. Lots more at http://www.ted.com/

Quote:
A couple in South Africa who were having sex on a railway track in Mpumalanga Province have been killed by a goods train, police say.

Spokesman Abie Khoabane said it took place on Friday evening and the victims were yet to be identified.

He told local newspapers that the couple ignored the driver's shouts as he moved the train into the disused station in Kinross town.

"They continued with their business," he told the Sowetan paper.

According to South Africa's Beeld newspaper, the area was deserted with no cars or houses nearby.

The man died at the scene and the woman died later at hospital, the Sowetan reports.

The police have appealed for those with missing relatives to come forward to help with their investigation.

I selected that it restores faith in humanity becaue I count "karma" as part of the deal. Way to clean that one up, Fate!

Sorry in advance if someone posted this, because it seems oddly familiar and I don't know where last I heard it.

Quote:

A would-be burglar found more than he'd bargained for when he broke into an Orange County, California home on Wednesday.

When Zachary Chanoski entered the home around 2 a.m., he was greeted by a huge 160-lb. Great Dane named "Ace".

The barking dog caused the burglar to scream, waking 14-year-old Nicolas Garvin, who saw Chanoski and yelled for his parents.

Michael Garvin, a karate expert, hobbled into the room on the aluminum crutches he's been using since his leg was put into a cast after a recent accident.

He quickly decided to use the crutches as a weapon, breaking one over the intruder's head.

At that point Garvin's wife entered the room with a baseball bat and joined the fight.

Young Nicolas called the police, who quickly responded to the scene and arrested Chanoski.

Chanoski claims he entered the wrong house after mistaking the Garvin's home for his girlfriends.

He's now charged with burglary and assault.
