Is it a professional team or is it like just a group of guys that get together after work and play? If its pro you should totally go fo it! And then make business cards that say "Professional Hockey Player".

It's semi-pro, in an organized league with sponsors, merch, and all that stuff. I think the top players play in the "Asia League" which has teams in Japan, Korea, and China. There are always comments like "Gah, this team here is good -- they've got like 4 pros on their blue line!" and stuff.

I am just happy that no console will get close to the pc and its superiority.

Thats actually pretty funny. That person thinks that the people bitching on the internet had something to do with the reversal and not the fact that the pre-orders were way lower than they expected. Cute.

I would like to request one as well if it is possible. Or even a jersey if they come cheap.

Sadly the jerseys don't come cheap -- $200 (20,000 yen), basically the same as a pro NHL jersey. I, too, was pretty stunned. I got the hat for I think 3,000 yen (like $30).

I don't know where I'd get the merch aside from the games themselves, which won't be happening here till maybe January. Perhaps as soon as October? The schedule varies, but very few of their games are played here in Kagawa. Due to the lack of popularity of ice hockey in Japan, they gotta play in third-party places a lot. Like, the same area will play host to 3-6 different games over the span of a weekend, for example.

If you still want a hat come next fall or something, let me know and we'll work something out.

I just looked them up and their mascot is like the cutest thing I've ever seen used for a hockey team. Usually hockey is some sort of angry animal or bearded man or a tree or something. Not in Kagawa! Its a damned teddy bear with a hat:

Even the name is friendly and welcoming.

This must be some sort of Japanese NAMBLA thing.

In the arena, there's a huge banner that says:

WIN WITH RESPECT.

Which is like the total opposite of most hockey teams. I think the Flyers' motto is "Spit on their whore mothers as you're plowing their ugly fat wives." Or something similar. I'm not a Philly fan so don't know for sure.

Well, once a thread hits Japanese Semi-pro hockey discussion its all pretty much downhill from there.
