The Final Fantasy XIV official website updated today with new lore about the game’s races. Each of the five races (Hyuran, Miqo’te, Lalafel, Elezen and Roegadyn) have two tribes, with distinct physical and cultural features. First is the most numerous tribe, the Hyuran Midlanders:

Midlanders comprise the majority of the Hyuran population in Eorzea.  They
are everywhere, undertaking a diverse variety of occupations.  Midlanders
are literate from a young age, and are brought up with many customs.  They
are considered rather intellectual.

Hyuran Highlanders hail from the northern plateaus of Eorzea.  They are largely
built and muscular.compared to the Midlanders.  After their city-state of
Aramigo fell, they were scattered and exiled, and are now rarely seen in
other cities.

The Miqo’te are divided into two tribes:  Seekers of the Sun, and Keepers
of the Moon.  The Seekers of the Sun have many followers of the Sun God
Arzema amongst them.  They are mostly active during the day, and are noted
for their striking light-colored eyes.

On the other hand, the Keepers of the Moon are mostly nocturnal, and follow
the Moon God Menefina.  They are famous for their elaborate war-paint.

The Plainsfolk of the Lalafel have flaxen hair, resembling the plants of
the field.  They live in thatched dwellings, and are noted for their good
hearing.  Even faint footsteps can’t escape their large ears.

The Lalafel Dunesfolk are a nomadic herding people, living in the sandy desert
lands of Eorzea.  Their eyes are peculiarly glasslike, with a film obscuring
the pupil. Most Dunesfolk affix a jewel to their brow.

The Foresters are an Elezen tribe hundreds of years old, a pale forest-dwelling
people.  They are very sharp-sighted, with eyes like falcons, to the point
where they excel at archery.  Some are currently adapting to city life,
while others are returning to the nomadic plains lifestyle that was abandoned
years before.

For several hundreds of years, Shaders have been living in dim limestone
caves.  The have developed a bat-like sense of hearing, to the point where
they can even hear the rustling of an opponent’s clothing, and many are
naturally suited to hand-to-hand grappling.
Nowadays, many have turned into thieves and robbers, and continue their
cave-dwelling ways.  They have a deep scorn for those who associate with
foresters, seeing them as traitors.

Roegadyn raiders and pirates from the northern waters are known as the Seewolf
tribe.  They are feared by many.  Presently, most are sailors, while more
than a few work as laborers.

Known as Soldiers of Fire, the Roegadyn of Lohengarde live in a volcanic
crater that some believe to be the gates to purgatory.  These Roegaydn are
stubborn, practice firewalking and have qualities that make them apt for
learning mystical arts.
