By Heath | April 5, 2011 at 11:51 pm

After seeing a couple of titles dance around the top 10 a bit, the 3DS finally sneaks one into the top 5 Most Wanted games in Famitsu’s periodic reader poll. PS3’s Tales of Xillia maintains the top position, though.

Everyone still Final Fantasy IV’s bitch

By Heath | April 3, 2011 at 4:59 am

Final Fantasy IV, originally released on the Super Nintendo, then ported with a dash of load times to the PSX, given a fresh translation and slight visual tweak on Game Boy Advance, then treated to a full overhaul with cinemas and voices and crap like that on Nintendo DS.  Later, a sequel called The After Years was released on Japanese cellphones which made its way to worldwide Wiiware (respect the w).   Now, the After Years has been essentially combined with the GBA version of the game (it’s not exactly the same, don’t jump me for not sitting here detailing the small differences.  It’s close), with an extra bit of content linking the two, and released for PSP.  This umpteenth release of the game is also dominating sales charts right now.

Union series continues with Gloria

By Janelle | April 3, 2011 at 3:59 am

After Yggdra Union came Blaze Union, and now, developer Sting is getting ready to drop Gloria Union onto Japanese PSPs in June.  Blaze Union didn’t come to North America, meaning this has little chance of doing so.

Square announces Kingdom Hearts: Predictable Confusion

By Heath | April 1, 2011 at 9:37 am

The newest Famitsu leaks are out, and the early edition we’ve seen has the new Kingdom Hearts game, subtitled Predictable Confusion.  We’ve seen images of the main character, a boy with spikey brown hair and puffy short pants.  We can’t tell if it’s a new character, or if it’s Roxas, or Sora, or Ventus.  The new(?) guy could be any or all of them.  By all reports, he has a friend who means well, but has some mingling with the dark side.  Is he a friend or foe?  It isn’t clear, and according to the newest article, it, loosely translated, “never will be.”  It has been said that for every question this game’s story answers, two more will be raised and one previously established truth will be rendered invalid.  Look for it on store shelves in 2012.  Belts something something.

RPG Land Now Rated E for Everyone

By Heath | April 1, 2011 at 9:27 am

We’re saddened by all the [spelunking] profanity here at RPG Land.  Many [icky] game review websites maintain family friendliness, but now at RPG Land, we’re taking it up a [loving] notch.  Not only will the “big” ones be censored, but their common substitutions will also be scaled back.  You can sit down with the whole [loving] family and read this site now.   The meanings of our sentences will still be perfectly clear, without you running into words referring to men’s and women’s [special belongings], no descriptions of [hygienic items], or people [boating] their [bunny bananas]  with [pastries].

Famitsu’s Most Wanted: Dragon Quest X gains ground

By Heath | March 29, 2011 at 2:00 am

Famitsu’s Most Wanted hasn’t changed a whole lot from last time, though Yakuza: Of The End goes from not even being in the top 30 to jumping into number 4.
