RPG Deals 11/21 – 11/24 + Rumored Black Friday Deals

By Russ | November 21, 2010 at 8:18 pm

Atlus is still offering 50% off select PSN games.  A couple places are running bogo deals on DS and PSP games.  The nation is gearing up for another tornado of shopping, and I have advice to dispense.  Behold!  The terrors of Holiday Shopping begin anew!  Update: NISA joins in the PSN fun.

Atlus and 50% off makes for some good deals.  This deal is supposed to run until Nov. 29. The games on sale are:

Yggdra Union is free when you purchase a copy of Knights in the Knightmare online or in store.

NISA joins Atlus with deals for the week.  Several PSP games are on sale via the PSN.  The titles are:

Toys R Us is offering a deal on PSP and DS games.  Buy one game, get a second game of equal or lesser value for 50% off.  However, if your local TRU has the same crappy selection of Petz and Imagine games mine has…

Amazon is also offering the same deal on several PSP and DS games.  Amazon’s RPG selection is much better, in my opinion.

Amazon has also listed a preview for sales this week.  For instance, Nov. 22’s deal is Alpha Protocol for $30. Whoop-de-frig; this is the regular price at most retail shops.

GameStop has Demon’s Souls for $20 this week.

The NISA store is having a sale this week.  No prices have been made available yet.

Rumored Black Friday Deals: You can check at  places like BlackFriday.com, or just doing a Google search for more than RPG-related info.

Best Buy – On Friday, Fallout 3 (360, PS3) will be $10 and Fable III (360) will be $40.

GameStop – GameStop is open at midnight on Nov. 26 for some forsaken reason.  Until noon, Final Fantasy XIII (360, PS3) is $20.

On Friday only, World of Warcraft (PC) is $5 and comes with a $5 gift card.

All weekend, the WoW Battlechest (PC) is $10, the PC version of Fallout: New Vegas is $30, the console versions of Fallout: NV are $40, Fable III (360) is $40, and the Dragon Age Ultimate Edition for the PS3 is $50.

K-Mart – On Thanksgiving Day only (WTF people!?), K-Mart is also offering a $5 gift card with purchases of the WoW ($5) and the WoW Battlechest ($10).  The Dragon Age Ultimate Edition (360, PS3) is $35 – this is a very good deal on the Dragon Age game, even if you own the first game and nothing else!  You will save $20 at this price due to all of the DLC.

On Friday, the prices for the WoW and WoW Battlechest are the same, but no gift card is offered. Mass Effect 2 is $10, and buying a 1600 points card is $10 if on the same receipt as ME2.  The Dragon Age deal continues, and Fallout: NV (360, PS3) is also $35.

Deals from Thanksgiving to Saturday include Fable III (360) for $40 with a $10 gaming coupon as a bonus.

Target – On Friday and Saturday, both Dragon Quest IX (DS) and FFXIII (360, PS3) are $17 each and Fable III (360) is $35.  More games are promised.

Wal-Mart – Boasting several games on sale.  Will probably match Target’s ads.

Xbox Live is supposed to be doing a Thanksgiving sale.  This may only be for Gold Members, but check it out.

Remember, these deals may change with the wind.  Check online and/or your local paper for what the final deals are.

No Cyber Monday deals were available at the time of this posting.

Last year I gave good advice for the Holiday Season.  Here it is again!

On (not) shopping at the mall:

Outside of certain doorbusters on Black Friday, there’s almost no reason to shop at a big-box store like Wal-Mart, Toys R Us, etc. Order everything online. Ship packages to your workplace if you are worried about theft or a family member finding out, or ship the packages to a friend or family member’s house if necessary. You know the season is a bad time for shopping. You know the weather in the northern part of the country is probably going to make matters worse. You know gas is expensive. You know you are going to be stressed out. Well, screw it all and let the mail guys sort it out. Choose shipping options best suited to your needs. Stop making yourself and others miserable because you feel a need to pop out to the mall.

On being nice:

If you must go out, be nice. Alternatively, if you are working behind the counter, be nice.  For customers and employees alike, if you can’t play nice go the hell home. Acting like a douche just means you are shooting yourself in the foot. For customers, having a crappy attitude is not going to make that employee help you out. Prepare to hear “I’m sorry, we don’t have that in stock.” on a items not on shelves if you don’t behave. More than likely, the employee will feel the product is going out the door regardless if you buy it. A nice attitude may mean the employee will double check the back stock for you. For employees, having a crappy attitude means you may lose a customer. If you are a seasonal employee looking to get hired, a good attitude will go a long way. Managers are looking for people who can get their act together and deal with these stressful times.

Christmas is the time when everyone should have their customer service face on – even the customers.

That’s all I got for this week.  Be safe this Thanksgiving holiday and Happy Hunting.

Disclaimer: Deals may not be available in all stores. Deals may stop and any time.  Prices in each store may differ. You can try different stores to mitigate this, and always ask if a store has the item before leaving the store. You might be able to get a raincheck. Many deals are in-store only, except where specified.
