Wild ARMs 4 Journal, Day 7:
(From here on out, if you’re not prepared for spoilers, I claim no responsibility. I’ll still separate huge stuff from minor stuff, but if you’re one of those guys who doens’t want to know ANYTHING about the plot, proceed with caution.)
- So I was captured. Naturally, my party dreamed up an ingenius escape plan: fight the guards. This worked well.
- MOVIE CLIP TIME! And when I fought them, Raquel and Jude decided they’d learn a combo attack. Watch me unload my rage on the last guard. Ha!
- Jude learned two new navigation techniques: climbing poles and shimmying Tomb Raider-style. Maybe it’s just because they’re new, but I’m not digging them so much. They seem like an added-in gimmick. They were used in some puzzles and stuff, though, so maybe it’ll get better as the game goes on.
- Waiting for me at the end of the line was a powerful wizard man. He wasn’t wearing a hat, which let me know I could certainly beat him. Let’s face it, any wizard really SERIOUS about his magic wears the friggin’ hat. So I mopped the floor with this poser.
- His girlfriend was a different story. While she was also hatless, she made up for it with her ability to look scary as hell–like she was about to Avatar Tune (play Shin Megami Tensei games if you don’t get the reference. Psh). She wasn’t tough the first time I fought here, but I had to duke it out with her TWICE with no chance to refresh my MP in between battles. That made the second fight longer. I still evaded the Game Over, thankfully. Here’s what she looked like when freaking out.
- The messy aftermath involved kooky flashbacks and trippy CG movie stuff. It was quite cool. Afterwards gave me a nice sequence of the characters really becoming a group I want to take through an entire RPG. The game’s cast really gained a lot more respect from me in this play session.
- I’m focusing on getting through the game now, so future updates miiiight not be as detailed. We’ll see, though. As always, be sure to check the new screens that go along with today’s entry.
