Ragnarok Online is in development for the Nintendo DS console and will be released in 2008.
In a statement on July 4, Gung Ho Online Entertainment shared scarce details about Ragnarok’s jump from the PC to Nintendo’s popular handheld. It is still unclear if Ragnarok DS will be a “massively multiplayer” game, or simply an interpretation of their PC World to the handheld with the ability to connect with friends for quick play. This announcement marks the beginning of development on one of the first possibly large-scale online handheld games.
Ragnarok Online is an online role-playing game based on Norse mythology, created by GRAVITY Co., Ltd. Users can create characters and venture off alone or in groups in far-flung fantasy worlds full of adventure. Ragnarok Online is currently the most popular MMORPG in Japan with a smaller, but generally devoted, following in North America. It features a 2D Chibi-SD style characterized with anime-esque character design and over 20 character classes.
