Shop Watch October Fest 2022

It’s not really a festival; I’m just drinking.

A port of Nier: Automata hits the Switch on October 6. This is because the goal of a Nier game is to inflict itself on as many people a possible. It’s also a fun game, and the Switch version is supposed to be top-notch.

October 21 is when the Persona series crashes the current crop of consoles. Persona 5 Royal is out for the PC, PS5, Switch, and Xboxx. Over the next year or so, Persona 3 and 4 will hit these same consoles – except PC for Persona 4; which already has The Golden available.

Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord hits PS4/5 and Xboxx on the 25th. The PC version has been out for a couple years.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force for PS4/5 and Xboxx is the sixth mainline entry in the series. This is interesting because every time a new Star Ocean is released it effectively kills the series due to some minor flaw. We live in a world of marketing necromancers, so death is only a minor inconvenience to an intellectual property so long as enough money changes hands.

RPGolf Legends sinks its balls into the holes of the PS4 and PS5 on October 28. Personally, equipping a driver with +5 distance sounds amazing. This title is by Limited Run Games, who are also releasing physical Switch copies of Alphadia Genesis 1&2, Blacksmith of the Sand Kingdom, and the Asdivine Collection on this date. All of these games are currently available for download.

That’s it for this month. Pardon me while I sit back and see if there’s enough in my budget for November’s Tactics Ogre remake; keeping up a fine year of Strategy RPG releases.
