By Michael | January 22, 2013 at 2:19 pm

The following is an unedited press release about the upcoming Elders Scrolls Online MMORPG.  I thought we’d try a different take and post it as is, with no changed, but editorialize (read through the lines) and see how it stacks up.  NOTE: The editorials are noted in bold/italic (ed.) and are solely my opinion or just a lame attempt at a cheap laugh (please like me).

Bethesda Softworks and ZeniMax Online Studios announced that beta signups are now open for The Elder Scrolls Online at Interested gamers simply have to go to the website and register for a chance to play. Selected beta registrants will be granted early access to beta test the game. They will be among the first to experience this epic world with others in one of 2013’s most highly anticipated releases (ed. AKA 2013’s most anticipated underachiever). Timing and details of the start of play tests will be provided at a later date to those who register.

They set up the lighting so that the MC’s face is never shown, because he is not Japanese. (His fake Japanese accent comes through terribly, but they don’t know that because they can’t tell the difference.) They got about 15-25 of their friends to stand behind the camera and cheer loudly on cue. They released this super-fake video and for some reason it’s causing a lot of fuss. I guess it doesn’t take much to fool some people.
