NISA Event 2008 – Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure hands on

As previously reported, NIS America will be re-releasing Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure on the Nintendo DS. For those who played the original PlayStation release of Rhapsody, I’m sorry, but it’s back with some improvements. Fans can take heart, the original sweeping vocal scores that so captured the fluttering hearts of young jRPG and gave us lyrics like “Let’s go on with hope in our hearts, love will surely show us how” gamers remain intact in their original glory.

Originally released in 2000 for the PSX, Rhapsody is a musical RPG that plays out, in part, like an interactive Broadway musical. A complete redesign of the games battle system has taken place, removing the original clumsy pseudo-TRPG style battles with a more streamlined and standard turn-based combat system. Rhapsody will take advantage of the top DS screen by providing a mini-map and party stats to make exploration easier. Players of the original can also expect to see a partial retranslation and localization of the text, with some NIS in-jokes thrown in for good measure, plus additional playable characters.

Below are some screenshots of Rhapsody in action, RPG Land recommends up-to-date cuteness vaccination shots before viewing.
