Shop Watch November

By Russ | November 2, 2008 at 8:22 pm

What are you looking for this November?  Every system delivers throughout the month, even if you haven’t beaten last month’s mammoth offerings.

Valkyria Chronicles for the PS3, shipping Nov. 4.  There’s a demo of this.  You should be playing it.  Then you should be buying the game.  That is all.

Oh, yeah.  The rest….

Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia for the DS, shipping Nov. 10.  Gotta catch them for the umpteenth time!  Pokemon!

World of Warcraft Minis for your table, shipping Nov. 10.  Remember that Warcraft is like Warhammer, but not?  Now it’s totally like Warhammer, kinda.

Eternal Poison for the PS2, shipping Nov. 10.  Atlus + Art book + CD soundtrack = Possible sales hit?  Probably not, but you can expect it on e-Bay shortly thereafter.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World for the Wii, shipping Nov. 11.  Namco-Bandai’s sequel to one of the GameCube’s finest (the other being Baten Kaitos) ships this day.  Lloyd’s allegedly slaughtered civilians – find out why.

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King for the PC, street dated for Nov. 13.  If you’re playing this, then you already know when it’s coming out and don’t care about the other releases.  Activision-Blizzard loves you.

Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria for the PC, street dated for Nov. 17.  Lord of the Rings Online is the other, other white meat to WoW.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir for the PC, shipping Nov. 17.  Atari expands the world of Neverwinter Nights even further.

Luminous Arc 2 for the DS, shipping Nov. 17.  Atlus gives out the same artbook/CD deal with Luminous Arc 2, minus the e-Bay potential.

Rune Factory 2: A Fantasy Harvest Moon for the DS, shipping Nov. 18.  I’ve said it before: Ultimate Farmboy Swordsman.

EverQuest II: Shadow Odyssey for the PC, shipping Nov. 18.  Cheetah Mount.  That is all.

Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods for the PC, shipping Nov. 18.  More quests to go on in the world of Gothic 3.

Last Remnant for the 360, shipping Nov. 20.  Square-Enix’s first big next-gen gun fires on the 360.  Will it be hit or miss?

Chrono Trigger for the DS, shipping Nov. 24.  Despite the fact that it remains essentially unchanged since its Super Nintendo release (aside from some possible bonus dungeons), this is going to be a pretty big hit.

Age of Empires: Mythologies for the DS, shipping Nov. 24.  Like the first DS Age of Empires; this time with deities.

Gothic 3: Collector’s Edition for the PC, shipping Nov. 26.  Gothic 3 and the Forsaken Gods expansion with a bunch more stuff caps off the month.

Shining Force II and Secret of Mana were released on the Virtual Console this past month.

A little bit of personal interjection:  Valkyria Chronicles will be the sleeper hit.  World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King is the clear financial winner for the month, with Last Remnant being a decent release.  Despite two new and interesting IPs coming out this November, no one will care when Resistance 2 for the PS3 hits Nov 4, Gears of War 2 for the 360 comes out on Nov 7, or Call of Duty: World at War for all systems comes out the 12.  November is ruled by shooters.

All games (with the exception of those marked as street-dated) will be in stores one day after their release. Release dates also tend to be shipping dates. All release dates are subject to change.
