RPG Deals 4/26 – 5/2

By Russ | April 26, 2009 at 5:59 pm

I’ve got free ads. It’s like an STD I give with words!

Plenty to lighten the wallet with this week, or just get some cheap gifts for the plethora of summer births.

Best Buy takes the cake this week with a massive $10 sale across most platforms; the 360, PS3 and DS being chief among them. There’s a couple of good games, but the only RPGs are Infinite Undiscovery and Operation Darkness on the 360. There also seems to be some miscellaneous sale going on at different Best Buys. Sometimes it’s 25% off a title, or Buy 1 Get 1 half off, and the titles seem to differ. Check out your local Best Buy and look at the end of each section to see where they are. It will differ store to store.

Toys R Us takes up the slack of other consoles with a Buy 1 Get 1 $20 off of any Wii game over $30.

Sales like this generate a lot of interest in gamers. Sometimes it’s best to get there as the door opens to snag what you want. Sunday mornings aren’t very busy for retailers but by noon it can get crowded. All of the copies of Infinite Undiscovery were snatched up by the time I arrived at 12:30. The stores should be seeing some re-stock later this week, and Best Buy employees can check their distribution center for more stock.

Looking toward the future a bit, May 1st sees Gamestop’s Game Days sale enter final clearance. There’s more than a few games with the possibility of hitting clearance. I say possibility since some games will get filed back into the regular inventory. Check here to see which RPGs are in the Game Days sale. The oldest games will have the best chance of entering final clearance.

That’s it for this week. Enjoy any good games you picked up today.

Disclaimer: Deals may not be available in all stores. Prices in each store may differ. You can try different stores to mitigate this, and always ask if a store has it before writing them off. You might be able to get a raincheck. A lot of these deals are in-store only, except where specified.
