Final Fantasy XIV to be built, optimized for PC

In a reversal of the case from Square Enix’s other online Fantasy, Final Fantasy XIV will be built for Windows and then ported to PS3. FFXI was designed for PS2 and then ported onto the PC and Xbox 360. In this interview with Impress, it is also revealed that the first beta testing will be mostly happening on PC. At this time, it is unknown exactly when the beta stages will begin and how long (or short) the PS3 version of the testing will be.
