RPG Deals 5/16 – 5/22

By Russ | May 16, 2010 at 6:07 pm

Mass Effect 2 and Ragnarok DS are this week’s main deals – except for a non-RPG deal on Read Dead Redemption which might help out with some extra cash towards an RPG of your choice.

I’ll be honest; this week sucks for RPG lovers.

GameStop has copies of Ragnarok DS for $20.  They’re normally $30 – $35 most other places.

Target has Mass Effect 2 on the 360 for $40.  $40 for Mass Effect 2 should just be considered the new price for the game.

There’s a bit of an odd deal from Toys R Us on Red Dead Redemption.  Between 10 AM and 2 PM on Tuesday, May 18, Reward members get a $25 gift card with the purchase of the game.  It’s a deal with a fairly precise time limit, but it’s not a bad deal if you’re going to buy the game anyway.  The gift card can only be used after the purchase of the game, by the way.

Reward clubs and similar programs do have some benefits to them.  As long as it’s free to sign up, I say go for it.  Best Buy offers stackable coupons if you buy certain items or spend enough money, and events like the TRU deal are pretty good, if limited.  Do a little research into their pros and cons, and decide for yourself.  Each program is a little different, but the pros of each one tend to outweigh any cons.

That’s all I have for this week.  Happy Hunting.

Disclaimer: Deals may not be available in all stores. Prices in each store may differ. You can try different stores to mitigate this, and always ask if a store has it before writing them off. You might be able to get a raincheck. A lot of these deals are in-store only, except where specified.
