RPG Deals 8/8 – 8/14

By Russ | August 8, 2010 at 6:01 pm

Holy Coupons, K-Mart! And move quickly to save on Lunar: Silver Star Harmony.

Deals I Have Used: I took advantage of the PSN points cards. There are some PS1 games I would like to replace through PSN, and some DLC I was interested in. One thing to note: K-Mart’s coupons can be used right after the transaction. Two of the same coupon cannot be used in the same transaction, but I was able to buy three $20 PSN cards right after the other, save $20 and still have a $10 coupon left. Just be pleasant to the cashier and left them know what you are doing.

Hell, I got Alan Wake and Transformers: War for Cybertron for $20 apiece today, but I am getting ahead of myself.

K-Mart is awesome this week. How awesome? So awesome. Several games have a $20 coupon spit out after you buy them. How many are RPGs? None. These deals are not available in the Sunday paper. Apparently, the low stock on the Wii points cards to come with the purchase of the Wii titles, and the price drops on the $60 360 titles being offered for $40 caused K-Mart to issue $20 off coupons.  Sweet!

Sin & Punishment (Wii)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii)
Alan Wake (360)
Splinter Cell:Conviction (360)
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (360, PS3)

It should be noted if you buy a copy of Sin & Punishment or Super Mario Galaxy 2 and a 2000 point card for the Wii, you get the point card for free and still get the $20 coupon.  Point cards can buy RPGs on the Virtual Console.

Additionally, several systems are on sale this week at K-Mart, including the FFXIII 360 bundle  for $280; Wiis without Wii Sports Resort for $150; and several PSP-3000 series systems packed with games are on sale for $130, except the MGS: Peace Walker bundle.

Finally, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver are $30 apiece.

So awesome.

Target is offering PSP Go’s for $200.

If you are Madden fans, buy Madden ’11 this week get select games 50% off.  In this case, Dragon Age: Origins.

PSN is both fantastic and a little frustrating.  Every week the store offers a decent amount of deals, but since the site updates Tuesday I tend to miss out on it. This past week until halfway through Tuesday, Lunar: Silver Star Harmony is on sale for $15.  Lunar is a pretty fun game, as my review ultimately attests via the wonders of self-promotion.

Two Worlds for the 360 is between $11 and $15 on Amazon.com.

That’s all I got for this week.  Happy Hunting!

Disclaimer: Deals may not be available in all stores. Deals may stop and any time.  Prices in each store may differ. You can try different stores to mitigate this, and always ask if a store has the item before leaving the store. You might be able to get a raincheck. Many deals are in-store only, except where specified.
