RPG Deals 8/25 – 8/31

Peanut butter anniversary time.

That’s what 5 years is, right? The peanut butter anniversary?

And look, Madden‘s 25th Anniversary is this week, thus dominating most store’s deals. Still, we got a few good ones – Especially since Dragon’s Crown and Diablo III are a recent release and a pre-order.

Dragon’s Crown and Ragnarok Odyssey are on sale via the PSN for the Vita. PS+ members get an additional discount. The deal only lasts until Tuesday afternoon, though.

Toys R Us has Diablo III and Dead Island Riptide on sale via their site for $45 and $30 respectively.

Best Buy is offering Skyrim’s Legendary Edition for $40 this week.

Last year I mentioned the changing face of RPGs and how it would affect the industry. It’s the inclusion of RPG elements into other games, you see. Everywhere I turn there seems to be a level system in place; like in Tomb Raider. And I imagine development costs associated with games extending past the 20 hour mark are atrocious nowadays; but I’m pretty sure that’s just imagination. Non-Elder Scrolls games are just a huge risk. I still wonder about what RPGs will turn into, but the independent scene has also showed a lot in the past year with some Eastern-inspired flair and Western-style games. I’ll just have to keep my eyes open.

In the meantime I’m bashing various enemy heads in FFXIV. It’s pretty sweet. Happy Anniversary.

Disclaimer: Deals may not be available in all stores. Deals may stop at any time. Prices in each store may differ depending on location. You can try different stores to mitigate price differences, and always ask if a store has the item before leaving the store. You might be able to get a raincheck. Many deals are both in-store and online. This column brought to you by peanut butter.
