Shop Watch March 2015
By Russ | March 8, 2015 at 4:41 pm
March comes in like a lion who likes to delete things.
This column would have been last week if the sonuvabeast hadn’t claw-swiped my work. Or if I’d, y’know; saved.
Titles shipping the week of March 8
Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea, Published by Koei-Tecmo (PS3). The final installment in what has become the ‘Dusk” trilogy, Shallie features two playable, improbably-named characters dealing with their respective father issues while alchemizing the crap outta ingredients.
Titles shipping the week of March 15
The Awakened Fate Ultimatum, Published by NISA (PS3). Another high school dude has become a god and must make an ultimatum which favors the angels of the demons, as represented by schmexy womens because NISA. Fans of The Guided Fate Paradox may like this, as it seems to be a spiritual sequel to the title.
Final Fantasy Type-0, Published by Square-Enix (PS4, Xbone). Someone decided (rightly, from what’s available) Type-0 would be profitable in North America. I’m glad to see this happen, since the opening salvo of the game is a real pleasure to behold. Four nations, four crystals – real normal Final Fantasy stuff with a little Chinese mythology a la the SaGa games mixed in – Type-0 also features enough blood and despair to earn a Mature rating in NorthAm. I would be looking forward to this more if I could afford a PS4.
Titles shipping the week of March 21
Bloodborne, Published by Sony (PS4) Lots of comparisons to Demon’s Souls with a setting reminiscent of a Gothic cityscape has given Bloodborne more than a few nods as it appears on several featured games lists. All I can say for certain is that I want it and I have still have two nice kidneys and no PS4. That may have to change.
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, Published by 2K Games (PS4, Xbone). Contains Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2. These games are all about Handsome Jack and his place in the Borderlands universe. But now it’s for PS4/Xbone players so hey there you go.
Some Advice: Grab LEs if you want such things. Everything here will drop in price eventually.
The Future: Handheld titles and re-releases until May. Sometimes both at the same time, Xenoblade Chonicles 3DS.
