Shop Watch April 2024

Sky’s so Blue, we’re in it.

Withering Rooms is a 2.5D sidescrolling horror-themed action RPG hitting digitally April 5. There’s a lot going on in the trailers, but it’s sparked my interest.

April 26th is a big day, as the releases of action RPG Sand Land and the dual-packaged re-release of dungeon crawlers Class of Heroes 1 & 2 hit shelves.

Sand Land is based on the late Akira Toriyama’s manga, and has a demo available to try.

Class of Heroes 1 & 2: Complete Collection are two PSP games hitting modern consoles. These are in the same vein as Wizardry or Etrian Odyssey.

The two standout releases this month are definitely Final Fantasy XVI‘s second DLC, The Rising Tide. Clive and company are off to spank the series’ significantly starring sea serpent.

But the arguably biggest RPG release this month is Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. The crowdfunded spiritual successor to the Suikoden series, helmed by Suikoden series creator Yoshitaka Murayama until his passing earlier this year; will see release April 23rd. I played the spinoff prequel Rising last year and it was a fun jaunt. I look forward to seeing how this game plays out.
