MMORPG developer Mythic downsized

Electronic Arts-owned Mythic Entertainment, developer of MMORPGs such as Dark Age of Camelot and Warhammer Online (ironically written about mere hours ago) saw a serious size decrease today.  EA released its second quarter financial results recently, and despite being “the #1 publisher in North America and Europe,” the company didn’t do as well as it expected to and is set to cut some 1,500 jobs by the end of March.  Monday’s 80 layoffs (reducing Mythic’s size by about 40% according to Katherine Pitta’s Twitter page) were apparently a part of this.

The exact effects of this on players of Mythic’s games are yet unknown and can likely only be mused about.
