Shop Watch February 2012
By Russ | February 5, 2012 at 2:15 pm
February is the month of Vita, pre-teen girls, and some Reckoning. That sounds illegal.
On the other hand, this site now has 100% more FBI involvement.
I’m really looking forward to the Vita. It will be a bot before I can afford one, but I really do like Sony’s push towards having everything available online. Except more PS2 games.

Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition, published by 2K Games (360, PC, PS3). This is the reason I never buy a 2K release upon release. It’s a Game f the Year Edition, just without the Game of the Year.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, published by EA Games (360, PC, PS3). KoA:R s cute. It’s like Fable‘s graphics and combat with Dragon Age‘s background. It plays pretty solid and offers a lot of customization. Do try out the demo. Even if you’re only remotely interested in the game, there are some free items for giving the game a shot.

Tales of the Abyss, published by Namco Bandai (3DS). Abyss gets ported to the 3DS. Tales games tend to have excellent battle systems, and Abyss is one of the better Tales titles released in North America.

Army Corps of Hell, published by Square-Enix (Vita). Gameplay videos show a cross between Overlord and Pikmin using the undead and demons as servants. Personally, I just freaking love the title.
Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen, published by Namco Bandai (Vita). Apparently, all the experiences promoting wisdom and leading to enlightenment come back to haunt the player with vengeance in the sequel to a game not even the Japanese remember.

HyperDimension Neptunia Mk. 2, published by NISA (PS3). Another tongue-in-cheek entry from NISA, this sequel promises more cheesecake with younger girls, making this a game you probably do not want to play near family, friends, or anyone. The world of GameIndustri must be really hard up to be saved by 13 year old girls in fetish bikinis.
…Yeah, I pre-ordered it.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2, published by Atlus (DS). Devil Survivor 2 has no connection to the first game, but that’s nothing new for SMT fans. The original game garnered some praise and a port with bonus content to the 3DS. The game is a strategy RPG comprised of typical themes across the SMT universe; most notably the ability to make decisions which affect your interactions and plotlines. Also the world may end.
Some Advice: Hit up Devil Survivor 2 and Tales of the Abyss right away. The prices might drop, but the games will be hard to find later. Vita titles have no precedence, but first release titles tend to drop like rocks when more solid titles are released. Also, everything Vita is available on the PSN, which frequently discounts games. Everything else will go down in price.
The Future: Mass Effect 3, Tales of Graces F and others. The year’s still shaping up.
All release dates are subject to change. Games available for download will have varying or staggered release dates. The views of this column do not reflect the views of RPG Land. This column brought to you by more lack of First Edition Prime figures. I want Bulkhead, too.
