Shop Watch November 2013
By Russ | November 9, 2013 at 3:55 pm
Two out of three new titles; one out of three new IPs; one enhanced edition.
I’ve said this in the other column, but it’s weird not having a fresh, big-budget Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Borderlands or something this time of year. Borderlands 2 received a GOTY or Complete edition this year, but aside from that; nothing. And Hell, most new JRPG releases don’t hit until March or so unless the developer is NISA.

The Guided Fate Paradox, published by NISA (PS3). I’m not entirely certain what type of game this is, having not touched an NISA title in some time because I am lazy; but I think it’s a roguelike. Anyway, the lead character wins the lottery at a mall and becomes a god who must help people with their wishes. Personally, I’d be more of the smiting type.

Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition, published by Atari (PC). Arriving for download on November 15, Atari is putting out an enhance port of Baldur’s Gate II. This port does come with the expansions Shadows of Amn and Thorne of Bhaal, along with some other extra features.

Ys: Memories of Celceta, published by Xseed (Vita). A remake of Ys IV, one of the entries in the Ys series which has never found its way stateside; Memories of Celceta uses Ys Seven‘s system and promises to deliver the same action. Which is to say – this game has some truly huge potential to be awesome. A Collector’s Edition is also available.
Some Advice: Xseed drops prices pretty decently or has PSN sales. Download only PC games go on sale all the time. Guided Fate Paradox will probably hit $30 in 6 months.
The Future: December now has nothing. 2014 will be your next stop.
All release dates are subject to change. Games available for download may have varying or staggered release dates. The views of this column do not reflect the views of RPG Land. This column brought to you by the lottery. The lottery: it fails you every time; but never as much as you’ve failed yourself.
