Disgaea 3 Vita hands-on preview (TGS)

Admittedly there’s not a whole lot of meat here, but I got my hands on the Disgaea 3 enhanced port for PlayStation Vita. Said hands went to places on the machine they were not supposed to go. Chaos ensued.
Biggest thing that jumped out was how much nicer the game looked on Vita. It’s hard to go back to pixelation after Disgaea 4‘s upped resolution and the first two Disgaea games already having nice-looking PSP ports, so it felt good see Disgaea 3 looking so sharp. I was holding the Vita the way I hold my PSP, which was problematic. Since the Vita has these touch sensors on the back, you have to be very careful about what you touch back there, as demonstrated when I couldn’t figure out why my menu kept sliding down. I’d open a menu and everything would hurriedly drive towards the bottom. The booth attendant was as confused as I was, but it turned out my hand was touching the bottom part of the left rear sensor. It’s a brave new world, kids. With the exception of those of us currently within Kansas state lines, we are definitely not in Kansas anymore.
Disgaea 3: Return was Disgaea-brand SRPG fun in handheld form and looked great on the Vita’s big, sharp screen; not much more to say about this one. I don’t know why I picked a port to be the first Vita game I ever played, but it probably has something to do with familiarity — the old with the new.
