RPG Land invades Japanese game shop

By Heath | April 7, 2008 at 7:37 am

Due to popular request, I took a camera into a game shop near my place here in Japan. I took several videos, which have been uploaded to YouTube, and plenty of pictures and descriptions are posted below.

Above from left to right: Some old, yet common (here) and inexpensive Dragon Quest games; a display looping the final Japanese trailer for Final Fantasy IV DS and also showing off Tales of Innocence and Dragon Quest IV DS, and a poster for Final Fantasy XII: Zodiac Job System, which North America will sadly never see localized.

Above: some bubble toy machines outside Media World Magical (left and middle), Janelle beside a big stack of TVs looping trailers of stuff. The fact that they’re all really loud and flashy and all on at once and all in the same place doesn’t make the environment chaotic at all. Nope. Nosiree.

Above left and middle: Yeah I had to take theses pictures because of the hilarity of the display placements.

Above left: Lots of cool used stuff, including things that are really expensive and rare in America being cheap and readily available, like the original Valkyrie Profile, Suikoden II, Ogre Battle 64, and so on.
Above right and middle: Oh, Japan.

You can check out the videos and stuff here. Forgive a little bit of outdated information, since this was filmed in like, January, and a few announcements have been made since then. For example, at that time, Disgaea 3 and Valkyrie of the Battlefield had not been officially announced for American release, and Crisis Core wasn’t out yet, but in narration, I mentioned Crisis Core “not being out in America yet,” and the other two games not having American announcements yet. Stuff happens, I guess.
